What If: Will the United States Become Less Centralized? . by Alice B. Clagett *

Written and published on 6 December 2019
Prior title: What If the United States Became Less Federal and More Regional in Government?

Dear Ones,

ECONOMIC STRESSORS THAT MAY LEAD TO DECENTRALIZATION OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT          top

I have some thoughts on the state of the nation. Intuitively, I sense economic stressors that may gradually lead to our Federal government taking a lesser role in the governance of the United States, compared to regional alliances of states. I see the Federal government continuing to provide military defense, social security payments, and leadership in foreign affairs. I also see states taking more initiative in economics for their regions.

As to trade, I see future reliance on established railroad routes and water routes such as the Mississippi river. I anticipate that, should there be a gradual lessening of Federal power, then there might be more trade within an economic region, and less trade globally and nationally.

As to finance, I see potential reliance on barter, with care no to place our financial assets in overseas locations. Local-employment based credit unions may come into favor as regional savings repositories.

There may be more reliance on those economic sectors that hold strong during recessions … such as locally grown food, locally obtainable building materials, and water supplies not piped in over long distances.

As to economic stressors, I suggest the economic impact of the HIV pandemic, stress of regional aridity due to long-distance water transport costs,

A socially disruptive stressor is handheld psychosis, which may lead to chaotic events such as mass murders and actions by public utilities and military regarding perceived dangers that do not truly exist. This might precipitate social unrest in regions of the United States pinpointed by the Jade Helm exercises.

CAVEATS REGARDING POSSIBLE LOCI OF SOCIAL UNREST          top

In United States cities, the high cost of housing and the increasing phenomenon of homelessness may lead to social unrest and attempted land grabs through anarchist behavior; this is something for which, I feel, every large city mayor and every state government ought to have on hand emergency action plans. For states in arid regions, emergency anti-anarchist plans ought, I feel, to highlight security of water transport systems. Electrical grids, I feel, might also be an anarchist target.

We people in large United States cities can be of big help in creating peaceful environments for our children by offering our law enforcement departments volunteer help through neighborhood watch programs.

ON MAINTAINING A POSITIVE ATTITUDE IN THE FACE OF CHANGE          top

It seems unlikely to me that anything would happen in a moment; rather I feel that the United States might very slowly tend towards a model of government more akin to the state by state model of our early years as a nation. We may find, in future, that traveling from one state to the next is a refreshingly new experience. Not everyone may be watching the same thing on television every night anymore; there may be less airline flights from here to there; and so the natural flavor and local color of each region of the United States may become more striking to the casual tourist.

In addition, it may be that some regions of the United States may be more perilous for tourist travel, as was the case for travelers in the early years of our nation.

I realize the prospect of change can be unsettling. It is good to keep in mind that changes such as those spoken of above … if, indeed, change there be … would in all likelihood take place by slow stages, over the course of the next century or two. Thus I feel certain there would be plenty of time to make our plans and find our footing in the new.

POSSIBLE FUTURE UNITED STATES ECONOMIC REGIONS AND TRADE REGIONS          top

Below are some maps I have adapted to show possible United States economic regions and trade regions of centuries to come. I would be interested on your comments regarding this intriguing topic of the eventual possibility that the United States government might become less centralized, and more imbued with local flavor and with the strong spirit of our local communities.

Community Health Call to Action: HIV Testing and Segregation in Health Care and Education? . by Alice B. Clagett

Written on 4 December 2019 and published on 5 December 2019

  • CALL FOR HIV TESTING AND SEGREGATION OF HIV-POSITIVE HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS IN SENSITIVE HEALTH CARE SECTORS
  • CALL FOR HIV TESTING AND SEGREGATION OF HIV-POSITIVE CHILD CARE, DAY CARE AND GRADE SCHOOL CARE GIVERS, EDUCATORS, AND CHILDREN

Dear Ones,

There is, I feel, an urgent need here in the San Fernando Valley, California, for testing and segregation of HIV-positive people in sensitive health care and education sectors  as follows …

CALL FOR HIV TESTING AND SEGREGATION OF HIV-POSITIVE HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS IN SENSITIVE HEALTH CARE SECTORS

In addition, at the present moment it is of great importance to monitor the HIV status of United States physicians, especially surgeons  and others who perform invasive procedures, and the HIV status of phlebotomists (medical technicians who draw blood).

We must decide, community by community, whether those in sensitive health care positions who test positive for HIV ought to be moved to less sensitive health care sectors; or whether they might be reserved for the use of HIV positive patients.

CALL FOR HIV TESTING AND SEGREGATION OF HIV-POSITIVE CHILD CARE, DAY CARE AND GRADE SCHOOL CARE GIVERS, EDUCATORS, AND CHILDREN

I have read that HIV can be transmitted through mucus or blood or semen contact … as through kissing or diaper changing, or through dressing open wounds, or through sexual intercourse . Thus I feel that it is of equal importance, at the present moment, to monitor the HIV status of child care and day care providers and of grade school educators and also of children starting with newborns, and on up through puberty.

As above, we must decide, community by community, whether to restrict HIV-positive early childhood care givers and grade school educators to care or education of children who are HIV positive, and whether to separate children into HIV-positive and HIV-negative groups in child care, day care, and grade schools.

Community Health: Zero Population Growth in the United States by 2079? . by Alice B. Clagett

Written and published on 4 December 2019

  • ZERO POPULATION GROWTH IN THE UNITED STATES BY 2079?
  • ON THE NEED TO RESEARCH ECONOMIC IMPACT OF POPULATION GROWTH DOWNTREND
    • Financial Sector
    • Health Care Sector

Dear Ones,

In light of the global HIV pandemic, I researched a United States population growth rate chart, to find out if perhaps the spread of HIV in the United States (as well as other factors) might be having an effect on population growth.

ZERO POPULATION GROWTH IN THE UNITED STATES BY 2079?

Here is the chart I found …

Link: “Population Growth for the United States (1960-2018)” … https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/SPPOPGROWUSA ..

As I saw a general downtrend in population growth, I took a look at a table on the topic …

Link: “Population of the United States (Current year and historical)” … https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/us-population/ ..

Here is a very rough extrapolation based on the tabular data …

In 1960, the yearly change in United States population was 1.69 %
In 1990, the yearly change in United States population was 0.95 %
In 2019, the yearly change in United States population was 0.60 %

In the ~60 years from 1960 to 2019, the decrease in the increase in the United States population was 1.69 % minus 0.60 % = 1.09 %

If this trend continues for the next 60 years, then there may be zero population growth in the United States population by 2079.

ON THE NEED TO RESEARCH ECONOMIC IMPACT OF POPULATION GROWTH DOWNTREND

In case this scenario should prove true, I feel it would be good to do workups on economic gear-downs for the various economic sectors, to do with man-hours available and necessary production.

Financial Sector

In the arena of finance, we might consider the impact of zero population growth on the stock market, on the value of a dollar, and on interest rates for the time span between now and the year 2109.

Health Care Sector

Should it be that the HIV pandemic is one of the driving factors in an ongoing decrease in population growth (as HIV couples are unlikely to have viable offspring), then the health care sector might want to consider the impact of HIV on medical care costs, on our ability to maintain necessary supplies of medications despite an aging and health-challenged population, and on the sustainability of the Obamacare program.

In love, light and joy,
I Am of the Stars

Dear Ones,

This is a call to action regarding the religious practice of mortification of the flesh, including self-flagellation, that some Christian denominations retain as a historical tradition. In noospheric tenor, these practices tie into the denser energy streams of sadomasochistic sexual practices and snuff sex that have, of late, ransacked the noosphere of Los Angeles, especially on the weekends.

Aside from the link-in with historic practices of fleshly mortification why is it that this relatively rare nuance of sexual behavior is such a standout in the Los Angeles noosphere of late? For more, I turned to this publication …

Link: “The Psychology of Sadomasochism: An Attempt to Explain Sadism and Masochism,” by Neil Burton, M.D., posted 17 August 2014, in Psychology Today … https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/hide-and-seek/201408/the-psychology-sadomasochism ..

From that I learned that many seemingly innocuous forms of behavior, such as tickling, infantilizing, and love-biting … and perhaps, I would add, taunting and bullying, as are oft found online these days … play into the darker, denser energy streams of the relatively recherché world of sadomasochism. Thus we are all, willy-nilly, for the most part unwittingly, involved in the clearing of these dense energy strands from the Los Angeles noosphere at present.

My appeal today is to those who are consciously able to choose whether they will add to these denser noospheric energies of sadomasochism. I make this appeal because, as an intuitive person, I find these energies very difficult to bear, especially on the weekends in Los Angeles, and most particularly so during times of solar storm … even geostorms as mild as that which we experienced last night …

Image: Kp Index 11 May 2019 18:30:02 UTC, by NOAA/SWPC Boulder, CO USA … public domain. One Level 5 bar spike indicates that a mild geostorm (lasting three hours or less) took place.

Image: Kp Index 11 May 2019 18:30:02 UTC, by NOAA/SWPC Boulder, CO USA … public domain. One Level 5 bar spike indicates that  a mild geostorm (lasting three hours or less) took place.

In order to keep our personal Body of Light (aura, or energy field) pure and bright, I feel it is important to avoid injury to the body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit itself, in my sense of it, is injured by mortification of the flesh.

LET THERE BE NO RETURN TO THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR OF OLD

It is the work of a Christian to discover the Grace of God within, or so I believe. What can be farther from that goal than the undercurrents that apparently evolved, over the centuries, in organizations such as the historic Knights Templar? Having read this no-holds barred account of that evolution …

Link: “The Dark History of the Knights Templar,” from “Knights Templar’s Saga” at theunjustmedia.com … https://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/sociopolitica/templars/knights_templars01.htm

… as well as this more tempered account …

… I have some concerns about the renaissance of the Knights Templar tradition by newly formed groups here in Los Angeles and elsewhere in the United States.

How is it that, in ages gone by, sincere members of devout religious orders have fallen prey to emanations of self-hatred and hatred of others through organizations founded for the best of reasons?

The answer, I feel, lies in the slight affinity aroused in the body to hatred of others through the practice of self-mortification …

Link: “Flagellation: Religious Practice,” written by Geoffrey Abbott, in Encyclopaedia Britannica … https://www.britannica.com/topic/flagellation ..

Through this ‘toehold’ of hatred of the body, flows forth into the noosphere hatred in all its forms: Hatred of women, abuse of children, envy at the sexual prowess of other men; hatred of this teaching or that of one’s own church, or of those of other Christian denominations; and finally, hatred even of the Light of God within, and turning to the abomination of Satanic ritual.

WILL PLAGUE COMPEL US TO FLAGELLANT PARADES?

In the mid-13th Century, processions of self-flagellants took place in central Italy with intent to mitigate a devastating plague. In current times we face another such plague, the scourge of HIV / AIDS, which leaves those of our children who are so infected unable to produce viable offspring.

In our nation’s capital, Washington D.C., according to Centers for Disease Control statistics published in 2016, the lifetime risk of contracting HIV was 1 in 13 people …

Link: “2016 HIV Lifetime Risk Statistics from Centers for Disease Control,” by Alice B. Clagett, published on 30 March 2019 … https://wp.me/p2Rkym-c3f ..

Since 2016, no state-by-state statistics have been published. Yet the epidemic, I feel, is cresting in the congested urban areas of the United States, or will soon do so.

Until statistics are caught up, we cannot definitively know where we stand with regard to the HIV / AIDS pandemic. Meanwhile, shall we once more fall to the practice of publicly mistreating our bodies … whether in our streets, or on the silver screen?

ON PERFECTING WORKS OF CORPOREAL MERCY

The answer to the social stresses now testing the tensile strength of our democratic way of life lies not in hatred, not in acts of terrorism whether ultra right or ultra left, not in pogroms, not in vigilante justice, not in wanton waste of life, but in a learned and temperately discerning approach to the problems at hand.

Let us pay utmost respect to our bodies, the abiding temples of God’s loving kindness to us. It is this, the virtue of Christian charity … to ourselves as well as to others … that holds the answer to action in the world during this, the cusp of the HIV / AIDS pandemic.

In the Book of Matthew, Christ says …

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” –Matthew 6:16 (KJV, public domain)

I am put in mind of the biography of pastor Martin Rinkart, whose example I find  inspiring in these times of worldwide hardship …

The Heroic Works of Charity of German Pastor Martin Rinkart During the Great Pestilence

Martin Rinkart (23 April 1586, Eilenburg – 8 December 1649) was a pastor who ministered to his flock in Eilenburg, a walled German town, during the Thirty Years’ War, 1618-1648.

In 1637, when the town was already worn down by war, the Great Pestilence took place. At that time the town of Eilenburg had four ministers. People from the surrounding area who were suffering from epidemic and famine sought refuge in Pastor Rinkart’s town.

As the plague-ridden entered the town, the townspeople became infected. One of the town’s ministers, no doubt overcome by a sense of impending doom, fled to healthier climes. The two other ministers stood by Pastor Rinkart, who saw them buried.

In the end, Pastor Rinkart was the only pastor left in Eilenburg. He conducted services for over 4,000 people, sometimes as many as 40 or 50 a day. In May of 1637 his wife died, which must have been a grievous personal blow to him. By the end of that year, the dead were being buried in trenches, and there were no services for them.

Under the most harrowing of personal circumstances, Martin Rinkart composed this uplifting hymn of gratitude for God’s myriad acts of loving kindness, a hymn that is often sung even today …

The examples of the many great saints of our Christian faith are like a beacon lighting our way in these difficult times. Like them, let us maintain hope in the face of the trials that stand before us. Let the heartbreak of many in our community lift us to faith in God’s sweet intention towards our Souls. Insofar as we may, let us speak to the pure Spirit within, so that we may find the courage to face calamity with equanimity, and the fortitude steadfastly to practice the Christian corporal works of mercy.

Let us feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, visit the sick, visit the imprisoned, ransom those held captive. and bury the dead.

There is a passage in Matthew 25 that speaks most poignantly to this time of Ascension on Earth. This passage brilliantly limns the manner in which we may choose to address the momentous days that lie before us, through works of mercy practiced in loving remembrance of Christ …

Matthew 25:31-46 (KJV, public domain)

31 “When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 “And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 “And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 “Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 “Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 “When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 “Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 “I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 “Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 “Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”

Surely none has spoken, nor likely ever will speak, more eloquently or to the point, than Christ himself has done. This passage sets us on a sure path through faith in Him, even in the face of  the most devastating hailstorm of temporal sorrow.

CONCLUSION

In these days of woe, shall we stand with Christ and act on his behalf? In truth, what we may do for the disempowered, the disadvantaged, and the disenfranchised people of Los Angeles, is what we may be privileged to do for Christ Himself in this lifetime.

It is the Body of Christ Himself to whom we minister. It is He whom we feed, whom we clothe, for whom we provide potable water, for whom we find lodging, whom we help to find a sure path after release from prison, and whom we seek to ransom from malefic entities … whether human or clothed in mists beyond our ken … who hold them prisoner.

Dear Ones,

SAFE SURGERY: RISK OF GLOVE PERFORATION DURING SURGERY

A while ago I did a blog on the effectiveness of surgical gloving in preventing blood taint during surgeries …

Link: “Compendium: Surgical Risk, HIV / AIDS, Hepatitis, and Hard Drugs,” by Alice B. Clagett, published on 17 October 2016; updated on 6 July 2017 … https://wp.me/p2Rkym-6gY ..

Here is the paper that was reviewed in the blog …

Link: “Occult Glove Perforation during Ophthalmic Surgery,” by Leonard Apt, MD, and (by invitation) Kevin M. Miller, MD, Tr. Am. Ophth. Soc., Vol. LXXXX, 1992 … http://europepmc.org/backend/ptpmcrender.fcgi?accid=PMC1298427&blobtype=pdf ..

In the paper, if I understand it correctly, Drs. Apt and Miller found a 15.0% incidence of surgically induced glove perforations over seven months.

In other words, if there is a 15% chance that a doctor’s surgical gloves might be perforated in 7 months, then there is a 15% chance of blood tainting during a medical procedure that involves exposure to a patient’s blood while it is in his or her body. According to the laws of probability, as I understand it, that would be a 15% chance of virus transmission with each surgery.

Self-Assessment and Segregation of HIV-Infected Surgeons to HIV-Infected Patient Groups

From this I deduced the possible danger to doctors of their being infected with HIV or hepatitis while they were wearing surgical gloves while doing operations. This then, might be a source point for HIV / AIDS ‘blooms’ as the pandemic progresses, unless the medical self-assesses and limits surgeries by infected surgeons to infected patient groups.

SAFE INCARCERATION: MITIGATING HIV / AIDS ‘BLOOMS’ IN PENAL INSTITUTIONS

As an aside, I feel that the incidence of HIV / AIDS ‘blooms’ in penal institutions … correctional facilities or prison … might be mitigated in a similar manner; that is, if correctional institutions self-assess and limit policing by infected correctional officers to infected groups of prisoners. The possibility of a correctional facility HIV / AIDS ‘bloom’ has to do with the practice of rape in these facilities, whether among prisoners, or by correctional facility officers. Prison rape is a practice just now beginning to be brought to light and figured into the pandemic equation.

COMPARISON OF SURGICAL GLOVE PERFORATION STATISTICS TO STATISTICS ON CONDOM BREAKAGE

To return to the article by Drs. Apt and Miller: That article got me thinking about how that finding might apply to the wearing of condoms during sexual intercourse. I think that there’s some congruence there.

Other factors being equal, might it be that wearing a condom during the act of sex might incur a 15% chance of HIV, hepatitis, or other virus transmission with every act of sexual intercourse? I’ve read an article by Planned Parenthood that supports this …

Link: “What are the chances of getting pregnant with a condom?,” by Emily@Planned Parenthood, 18 December 2017 … https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/teens/ask-experts/what-are-the-chances-of-getting-pregnant-with-a-condom ..

According to the article, among heterosexual couples where the man uses a condom during sexual intercourse, 18 in 100 of the women will become pregnant each year.

Among heterosexual couples where the woman uses a female condom, 21 in 100 women yearly will become pregnant.

Thus there is an 18% or 21% ‘ineffectiveness’ rate through condom use amongst heterosexual couples yearly. This figure is reasonably close to the 15% ‘ineffectiveness’ factor found by Drs. Apt and Miller for surgical glove protection.

Thus, we might extrapolate that a 15% to 21% annual effectiveness rate for prevention of STD virus transmission might be attained by using condoms, whether M2F, M2M, or F2F.

In other words, 15% to 21% of people using condoms for ‘safe sex’ might be anticipated to contract HIV or hepatitis annually, if their partner is infected.

RISK MITIGATION THROUGH DOUBLE BAGGING

Glove Perforation Risk Mitigation by Double Bagging During Surgery

The study by Drs. Apt and Miller discussed at some length the advantages of wearing two pairs of surgical gloves during surgery … of ‘double gloving’. Their retroactive findings were interesting, but inconclusive. One of the factors that needed to be looked at in future studies was correlation of location of punctures in inner and outer gloves worn during surgery. Were these to correlate … in other words, in cases of perforation of both gloves at one location … then, most likely, the risk of viral transmission, in cases where either the surgeon or the patient is infected, would be greater.

Then, in surgical cases, much might depend on the type of surgery being performed. For instance, hip arthroplasties … that is, total hip replacement surgeries … there is rough work involved. These surgeries must be done by physically strong surgeons. Manipulation of the joints may, I feel, result in greater likelihood of glove puncture. That is just my thought on it, without my doing any research on it. So it seemed to me that studies ought to be planned regarding correlation of location of punctures in inner and outer gloves worn during these types of surgery.

Risk Mitigation by Double Bagging Condoms During Sexual Intercourse

Wikipedia states that ‘double bagging’ … using two condoms instead of one … offers greater protection …

“‘Double bagging’, using two condoms at once, is often believed to cause a higher rate of failure due to the friction of rubber on rubber. This claim is not supported by research. The limited studies that have been done found that the simultaneous use of multiple condoms decreases the risk of condom breakage.” –from Link: “Condom,” in Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condom … CC BY-SA 3.0

Planned Parenthood has more to say on this …

Link: “Fact Sheet: The Truth about Condoms,” by Planned Parenthood, July 2011 …  https://www.plannedparenthood.org/files/9313/9611/6384/truth_about_condoms.pdf ..

Under the subheading “Double Bagging,” they mention that three studies indicate double bagging … wearing two condoms … is effective in decreasing the risk of condoms breaking. One of the studies stated that double bagging decreased the risk of HIV transmission from 1.8% to only 0.2%. The study in question was …

Citation: “Multiple Condom Use and Decreased Condom Breakage and Shippage in Thailand,” by Rugpao, Sugwal, et al., February 1997, in Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome
and Human Retrovirology,14(2), 169–173.

That would mean that single bagging results in a 98.2% effectiveness (that is 100% less 1.8%), and that double bagging results in 99.8% effectiveness (that is, 100% less 0.2%), as to the risks of condom breakage during sexual intercourse.

What do these percentages mean, in terms of the probability of HIV transmission? If the risk of condom breakage decreases from 1.8% to 0.2% with double bagging, then the risk, with double bagging, is only 10% as great as with single bagging.

Planned Parenthood translates 98% effectiveness as meaning, in a practical context, that 18% of heterosexual women using condoms will become pregnant each year. Were this risk to be 10% as great, then, presumably, only 2 women in 100 would become pregnant annually.

This pregnancy rate presumably correlates to condom breakage or slippage; thus the statistics might also apply to transmission of HIV and hepatitis. What we have then, is a potentially very significant mitigation of the rate of transmission of HIV and hepatitis through double bagging during sexual intercourse.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SLOWING DOWN THE COURSE OF A PANDEMIC

Slowing down the course of the HIV pandemic is important, both in terms of mitigation of human suffering, and also in terms of stabilization of the work force, and of available manpower, so as to keep our economy as strong and healthy as that of other nations, all of which are being impacted by the HIV / AIDS pandemic.

Uninfected Children Can Help Strengthen the Workforce of the Next Five Decades

The more we are able to slow down the course of the pandemic, worldwide, the greater will be the numbers of uninfected children born to the upcoming generation. These children, along with people now adults and uninfected, will strengthen our workforce during the next five decades.

Are HIV-Positive Newborns Who Are Resistant to HIV Being Born Worldwide?

Slowing down the course of the pandemic will also allow the human gene pool a ‘leg up’ in the natural course of selecting for a population that is resistant to HIV. More and more babies are being born already infected with HIV. The scant literature on mortality rates leans toward these babies not surviving to adulthood; but the truth is, data on this topic are woefully inadequate, as yet.

For instance, it is possible that babies are being born in the world today, who have the HIV infection. But because they appear to be perfectly normal, no one knows that they carry HIV. This might be the case, for instance, in Africa, where health care resources are less available.

Insurance Availability of Voluntary Annual HIV Testing in the United States

It might also be the case here in the United States, where annual HIV testing … though paid for by Medicare and other government programs … is seldom taken advantage of. This is most likely due, I feel, to backwardness of physician guidelines regarding the HIV pandemic. That would be easy to fix, though, by updating physicians on the advisability of annual HIV testing, and of testing newborns for HIV.

Nurturing HIV-Positive Newborns Who Are Resistant to HIV Will Strengthen Our Gene Pool

Thus it is possible that children are being born, here in the United States, and also worldwide, who are resistant to the HIV virus; who are able to lead healthy lives, and to bear healthy children. On this very likely possibility, it would be wholly inadvisable to react to the birth of HIV-positive children in our hospitals, with a policy of euthanasia. This type of policy would place our nation at a disadvantage, as regards other nations, in birthing a generation of children who have HIV, but are naturally resistant to the virus.

Putting the breaks on the rate of the pandemic … through double bagging, through voluntary annual testing and voluntary testing of newborns, and also through education on the risks and rewards of various sexual lifestyle choices … will allow the United States time and resources to nurture HIV-positive newborns, rather than making the short-sighted choice to euthanize them as a cost-saving measure.

These will be children who will be able to bear viable children, despite the infection, in years to come. Thus, slowing down the course of the pandemic will allow our human gene pool a ‘leg up’ in the natural course of selecting for a population that is resistant to HIV.

ATTENUATION: THE NORMAL COURSE OF A PANDEMIC

Mortality Rate During the 1918 Flu Pandemic, Compared to the 2009 Swine Flu Pandemic

We can expect that the HIV of future generations will be much different from the HIV of today. Such was the case with the influenza epidemic of the early 1900s … In the 1900s, the flu was very deadly, striking down one in every 10 to 20 people …

“The global mortality rate from the 1918/1919 pandemic is not known, but an estimated 10% to 20% of those who were infected died. With about a third of the world population infected, this case-fatality ratio means 3% to 6% of the entire global population died.” –from Link: “1918 Flu Pandemic,” in Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1918_flu_pandemic … CC BY 3.0

Yet today, many people successfully survive infection with influenza. For instance, in the 2009-2010 Swine flu … H1N1 … pandemic, 1 in 5 people were infected, but the mortality rate was only 0.2% …

Pandemics: A More Benign Infecting Agent Over Time? Or a Stronger Human Gene Pool?

As I understand it, this is the normal progress of a pandemic: Those who are genetically most susceptible to the infecting agent are likely to pass on, in either the first or the second generation of the pandemic. Others, with genes more capable of withstanding the impact of the infecting agent, survive. The result, over time, is a gene pool more capable of resisting the impact of the infecting agent.

From our human standpoint, over time, it appears that the infecting agent has become more benign. But in fact, it is our human gene pool that has become more viable.

This is the normal course of pandemics in human populations. Were we to look at the course of pandemics in domestic animal populations, we would most likely find correlation.

In love, light and joy,
I Am of the Stars
