Today, 20 March 2026, we celebrate the Vernal Equinox (the Spring Equinox) with a Strong G3-class geostorm. Kp is currently at 7.

Solar wind speed is 502.6 km/sec, which is high, but Solar wind density is at 6.11 protons/cubic centimeter, which is low. Thus Protonfall is only at about 3000.

I asked Google AI: Why would I feel nauseous and feverish during a geostorm?

Google AI said: Feeling nauseous and feverish during a geostorm (geomagnetic storm) is likely due to the interaction between solar-induced magnetic field changes and the body’s autonomic nervous system or circadian rhythm, which can increase inflammation and stress. 

So, if you are feeling a little under the weather today, that may be why.

I asked Google AI: Are there more geostorms during the equinoxes?

Google AI said: Yes, geomagnetic storms are more frequent and often stronger during the weeks surrounding the vernal (spring) and autumnal equinoxes (March/April and September/October). This phenomenon is caused by the Russell-McPherron effect, where Earth’s tilted magnetic field aligns more effectively with the solar wind, creating “cracks” in the magnetosphere.

• The Equinox Effect: Around the equinoxes, Earth’s magnetic poles are at a right angle to the solar wind flow, allowing particles to penetrate the magnetic field more easily.
• Increased Coupling: This alignment makes it easier for the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) to turn southward, which is essential for launching geomagnetic storms.
• More Auroras: Because of this increased coupling, even minor solar wind gusts can cause bright auroras. Auroras are nearly twice as likely to occur during these months compared to midwinter or midsummer.
• Historical Data: Studies confirm that September/October and March/April are consistently the most geomagnetically active months of the year.

PRACTICAL ADVICE

During this time, drink plenty of fluids, meditate, ground, sleep. Practice neutral mind. Best not to drive, unless you feel quite confident to do so.

It is best not to travel by air at times when the Sun is quite active; if you are able to rearrange a flight at such times, please consider doing so.

Set your mind at peace. Place your attention on your quiet breath. All will be well.

Low Protonfall is from zero to about 3,000.
Moderate Protonfall is from 3,000 to 6,000.
