Dear Ones,

I did some research today on the cause of the configuration of the current COVID-19 infection map in the United States …

COVID-19 INFECTION MAP FOR THE UNITED STATES AS OF 25 MARCH 2020

Link: “Where COVID-19 Has Been Confirmed in the U.S. | Statista,” as of 25 March 2020, Sources: Johns Hopkins University, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) … https://www.statista.com/chart/20978/coronavirus-cases-us-map/ … Creative Commons

As can be seen from the above map, some of the most affected states are New York, New Jersey, California, Washington State, Michigan, Illinois, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Georgia. Colorado, and Texas.

Least affected as of 25 March 2020 were the uppermost two tiers of states that were not near the Pacific Ocean or the Great Lakes.

USE OF ALCOHOL AND OF PRESCRIPTION AND NONPRESCRIPTION DRUGS MAY WEAKEN THE IMMUNE SYSTEM, INCREASING THE SEVERITY OF COVID-19 SYMPTOMS

I see by my research today that the use of alcohol, opioids including heroin, cocaine, and prescription morphine can weaken the immune system, increasing the severity of the effect of COVID-19 infection.

From the map, I see that most of the United States is involved in drug use, the least affected states being North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, and Texas.

Importance of Strengthening the Immune System

I have read that the COVID-19 statistics from China show 81 percent of those who are infected are asymptomatic …

LInk: “Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), by Kenneth McIntosh, MD; Martin S. Hirsch, MD; Allyson Bloom, MD, updated 25 March 2020 … https://www.uptodate.com/contents/coronavirus-disease-2019-covid-19?source=history_widget ..

I feel that lack of symptoms must have to do with the strength of the immune system; so whatever we can do to make our immune systems stronger, as the wave or waves of COVID-19 sweep through our particular state, would be very helpful.

For instance, I find that drinking water with buffered vitamin C mixed into it every other day is very helpful in bolstering my immune system when I feel a cold coming on; this might be helpful for COVID-19 as well.

I also saw somewhere online that consumption of vitamin D might be helpful; and just in the general course of preventive health care, taking a daily vitamin is recommended by many Western medical doctors.

In the case of people whose lifestyle includes the use of recreational drugs, the good news is that withdrawing from use of these drugs prior to the onset of symptoms might improve the chances of having only a mild response to COVID-19 infection.

INFECTION WITH HIV / AIDS MAY WEAKEN THE IMMUNE SYSTEM, INCREASING THE SEVERITY OF COVID-19 SYMPTOMS

As well, I have read that autoimmune diseases such as HIV / AIDS can weaken the immune system, increasing the severity of the effect of COVID-19 infection.

You can see the low arc of the infection swinging round the southern edges of the United States, and also that New York State involved in the epidemic.

Image: “Rates of HIV Diagnosis in the United States, 2017,” by United States Centers for Disease Control, 1 February 2019, in Wikimedia Commons … https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Hiv-us-map-2017.png … public domain … DESCRIPTION: Dark blue represents the highest HIV rate.

DESCRIPTION: Dark blue represents the highest HIV rate.

There is no cure for HIV infection, but symptoms of AIDS can be treated. The present moment may not be the right time for that though. If you are infected with HIV, then you might want to ask your doctor about whether you ought to wait on treatment until the COVID-19 infection builds up and then subsides in your state (much as I hope will be the case for New York State soon).

Los Angeles COVID-19 Peak Predicted for 9-12 Days From Now

Along those lines, I read that Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti predicts that Angelenos may see a great surge in COVID-19 infections (concomitant to the surge currently being experienced in New York)  six to 12 days from now …

Link: “As deaths rise in L.A. County, officials issue new quarantine order,” by Sarah Parvini, Rong-Gong Lin II, Taryn Luna, and Colleen Shalby, 25 March 2020, in the Los Angeles Times … https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-03-25/coronavirus-california-peak-deaths ..

POSSIBLE FACTORS: HIGHRISE BUILDINGS, CANADIAN CITIES NEAR NORTHERN UNITED STATES BORDER, AND MERCHANT MARINE

On studying the drug death and the HIV/AIDS infection maps above, I found these to a reasonable degree correspond to the lower arc of the above U.S. map of COVID-19 infection.

Thoughts on Highrises and the COVID-19 Infection in New York State

I had a few thoughts about how New York has taken the fore in terms of COVID-19 infections. I wonder if it might have to do with many people living in highrise buildings that share common HVAC … so that infected air might be circulating throughout a building?

As you may know, I mentioned the HVAC in highrises as a possible source of COVID-19 infection in an earlier blog … Link: “COVID-19 and Central HVAC,” by Alice B. Clagett, written and published on 17 March 2020 … https://wp.me/p2Rkym-gZ4 ..

Thoughts on Possible Involvement of Canadian Cities Such as Toronto and Vancouver

As far as infection of Washington State and of the Great Lakes states is concerned, I wondered if trade with the Canadian cities of Vancouver and Toronto might have been a factor in their infection with COVID-19. I see no substantiation of this from the Canadian government, but it is possible there is not as much testing for COVID-19 there, or that statistics are not yet tabulated in that regard.

Thoughts on Possible Involvement of the Merchant Marine in Infection of United States International Ports

The involvement of the Great Lakes states in early COVID-19 infection surprised me; it made me wonder whether the merchant marine might be bringing COVID-19 from foreign ports into United States ports. The effect of the merchant marine might have had to do with the early COVID-19 infection of Washington State, California, and New York State as well.

. . . . .

Those are my thoughts for now on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Blessings of perfect health and happiness to everyone! Stay well!

I Am of the Stars

Look Out for Stray Dogs in COVID Cities? . by Alice B. Clagett

Written and published on 24 March 2020

Dear Ones,

I was out briefly in the San Fernando Valley this morning, and I intuitively picked up on a ‘sign’ or portent: I saw two dogs walking without an owner down the sidewalk, near Topanga Canyon Blvd. As this is a rare sight in Los Angeles, I got to thinking we ought to look out for stray dogs in the cities hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, that would be cities in New York, New Jersey, California, and Washington State …

E.T., in The New York Times … https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/coronavirus-us-cases.html … COMMENT: May require a ‘sign up’ to log onto this article.

I was out briefly in the San Fernando Valley this morning, and I intuitively picked up on a possible danger that might be coming up: I saw two dogs walking without an owner down the sidewalk near Topanga Canyon Blvd on. As this is a rare sight in Los Angeles, I got to thinking I ought to look out for stray dogs in the cities hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

It seems to me possible there might later on be people at home and too sick to care for their pets because of the coronavirus. It is possible we will see roving, hungry pets on the sidewalks and streets, looking for food to scavenge.

I have two thoughts on this: First, I thought I would carry a sealed-up bag of dog kibble with me when out and about, as an offering of a little kibble might buy some time for a strategic retreat to one’s car or to within a building. Cat kibble might do, in a pinch.

Then I thought I would find out the phone number of the local animal rescue agency, write down a description of the dogs and the intersection, and call their personnel to ask for a rescue.

As rescue staff may be short in the coming weeks, I think the main thing may be to be aware of this novel, possible danger … the possibility of stray animals hungry and looking for food, possibly not acting normally, and get to a safe place if they are sighted.

It is possible the coronavirus is transferable to pets, whether dogs or cats, I don’t think that is known right now. If pets could get the virus, then I guess they might transmit it to a person. For that reason I advise against doing a good deed and taking a stray pet home, for now.

Years ago I remember once domestic dogs gone wild, running together in packs, and hunting in the canyons of San Diego. It is possible that very hungry dogs, especially if running in a pack, might attack a person, especially a child, and or maybe an adult, if at night; I thought I would stay clear of stray dogs during the next few weeks for that reason.

I know that currently, here in Los Angeles, the chance of danger from released or escaped pets is minimal. This is just a thought for the future.

In love, light and joy,
I Am of the Stars

Transformation Through the Incoming Light . by Alice B. Clagett

Published on 23 March 2020

Dear Ones,

I found these two images of Hammerfest, the northermost town in Norway. The word ‘Hammerfest’ means ‘big rocks’ and ‘fastening’, which is to say, it is a good place to moor boats.

It seems to me these images are like the transformation through the Light now coming in to Earth … death of the old, and promise of the New …

INCARNATIONAL MEMORIES: NORSE VIKING WIFE AND NORSE SAGAS

Here is the text-to-voice program I used … Link: “Natural Text Reader” … https://www.naturaltextreader.com/ … The voice of the Norsewoman is Norwegian, Anja (female), x-slow. The voice used as my own is English (US), Karen, slow.

I can remember being a woman amongst the Norsemen, long centuries ago. I was the wife of a Viking. It was in Scandinavia that our longhouse was built. It was in an area rather flat, shielded from the western winds by a rounded ridge of land running south to north and four times the height of a grown man.

The door to our longhouse was to the south, and it ran, a little like the ridge of land, from south to north, having been built 20 paces from it. Near the house were evergreen trees. The trees were twice as tall as our roundhouse, There were not too many of the trees, but for that land, deep in snow in wintertime, it was a nice setting in which to build a house.

I remember I was a sturdily built woman, not given too much to speech. I remember waiting, in my 30s, more than a year for my husband’s return from a raiding expedition. I remember how long winter was there, and how physically strong my young children and my family were; how able they were to resist the cold.

I can remember reading, in this current incarnation, the Norse myths. I recall reading about the Norse settlement of Greenland, and of the further Norse explorations of Newfoundland, and on down the Mississippi River, and also of their diminution in Greenland, and finally the deaths of the last Norse settlers there. As I read these stories, it was as if I remembered them happening to me.

It could be that these sagas were handed down from generation to generation amongst the Norsemen, and that I was a storyteller in that long-ago incarnation as a Viking woman.

I recall having the DNA of my family line checked through National Geographic, and finding out that my ancestral line came from Africa, passed through the Neanderthal settlements in Europe (and so, may have picked up some Neanderthal genes though intermarriage). Then it passed down through Norway to England, arriving there at about the time when William the Conqueror successfully overtook the British Isle. Thus it is possible that the memories I have may have had to do with an ancestor of mine, whose memories are stored in my own etheric or DNA template.

. . . . .

It is perhaps because of these incarnational or ancestral memories that I would like to go to Hammerfest one summer, and see what it is like there.

In love, light and joy,
I Am of the Stars

Predicted Coronavirus Death Toll for California . by Alice B. Clagett

Written and published on 17 March 2020

Dear Ones,

As you may know, the Chinese province of Hubei, which was the first part of the world to suffer the COVID-19 pandemic, has a population of 58.5 million people. Of those infected, the death toll according to the World Health Organization is 3,085 people.

There are about 39.6 million people in California. All things being equal (which may be far from the case) we might expect a coronavirus death toll in California of 2,088 people.

That is calculated thus: 3,085 Hubei province deaths, divided by 58.5M Hubei population, multiplied by 39.6M California population = 2,088 predicted State of California deaths.

As a percentage of the State of California population, that would be a mortality rate of 0.005 percent of the population; which is to say, a mortality rate of about five people in 10,000.

While far from ideal, those are pretty good odds of survival, I feel, provided we follow the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention coronavirus guidelines  …

Homeland Security Violent Extremism Grant to Los Angeles . by Alice B. Clagett

Written and published on 27 February 2020

Dear Ones,

If memory serves, Homeland Security offered a multiyear grant to the City of Los Angeles on the topic “Countering Violent Extremism.” Here is the grant award …

Link: “Countering Violent Extremism Grant Applications (Awarded),” EMW-2016-APP-00294 … https://archive.org/stream/DHS-CVE-grants/EMW-2016-CA-APP-00294%20Full%20Application_djvu.txt ..

I thought it might have run for about 10 years; possibly it is still running, but maybe not.

The thing I found interesting about it was that it looked like Gale Feldman, M.P.H., who was my nextdoor neighbor when I lived in Santa Monica, California, may have been on the steering committee. Here is her Linked-in information …

Link: Gale Feldman, M.P.H. … https://www.linkedin.com/in/gale-feldman-m-p-h-75b2234 ..

I recall some years ago Gale invited me to one of the talks given in downtown Los Angeles by Fr. Greg Boyle of Homeboy Industries, who is on the Board of Directors for the grant. As I recall, he had plenty of hands to shake that day; I feel certain he would not remember me, although I might have signed the guestbook.

Then later Gale sent me an inspiring speech she had made to former gang members who had done their time and were about to rejoin the mainstream of community life. Pretty impressive work, I felt, as they say public speaking is most folks’ number one fear.

Community Health: Coronavirus News . referrals by Alice B. Clagett

Published on 18 February 2020, updated on 6 March 2020

Dear Ones,

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION CORONAVIRUS STATISTICS

I have found a World Health Organization (WHO) web page with daily situation reports on the coronavirus (COVID-2019) …

https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/situation-reports ..

NEW YORK TIMES CORONAVIRUS STATISTICS COMPARED TO THOSE OF WHO

On 6 March 2020 I checked the New York Times statistics (you have to create an account, either free or paid, in order to view the article) on Coronavirus cases within the United States …

Link: “Tracking Every Coronavirus Case in the U.S.: Full Map,” by Mitch SmithAmy HarmonJeremy WhiteKeith CollinsAllison McCann and  … updated on 6 March

The New York Times indicates 227 people with the Coronavirus have been treated in the United States. Twenty-one states were involved, and 14 patients have died. It avers that infection is being spread within the United States, and not just through travel to other countries.

The WHO statistics for 5 March 2020 are less timely, but supportive of the New York Times report. As of 5 March 2020, WHO confirms 129 cases in the United States (of these 21 were new cases as of 5 March 2020); and 9 total deaths as of 5 March 2020 (3 of which occurred on 5 March 2020). This statistical source also indicates local transmission within the United States is now occurring.
