Lizards and Birds React to Viking Throat Music

Hello, Dear Ones, It’s Alice. I Am of the Stars.

There is nobody around right now, amongst the Birds. I thought I would play you an mp3 from Pixabay called “Freja” by OB-LIX.

Freja is a goddess of Norse mythology. She has under her auspices opposites such as love, battle, and death. So her domain is quite huge in the pantheon of gods.

The music I’m about to play is Viking music. The other day, Viking music attracted quite an audience amongst the birds. We’ll see what happens today.

[Music begins to play.]

Songbird: Viking music!

Alice to Readers: Guess who liked that one … Songbirds!

That’s throat music from Siberia.

[Alice sees Fence Lizard.]

Alice to Readers: Oh, Mr. Lizard likes this.That’s one Fence Lizard. The Lizard is doing push-ups.

[Alice sees a Mockingbird on the power line.]

Alice to Readers: The Mockingbird likes it.

[Alice sees Mourning Doves on the power line.]

Alice to Readers: Mourning Doves don’t like it too much.

Alice to Songbirds: Who’s that? Who is that?

California Towhee to Alice: I like beat! Great beat!

Alice to Readers: Lizards are heads up on this. Yeah, Lizards really like that deep, low beat.

California Towhee to other Songbirds: Great beat!

Mourning Dove to California Towhee (fluting voice): I too liked that beat.

And a pair of Mockingbirds started fighting over it. And then another bird [the California Towhee] tried a dust bath. It [a different Songbird] kept saying it didn’t like it at all …

Songbird to Alice: Verrrry gooood.

Alice to Songbird: Yeah, not at all!

Songbirds talking together: Good beat! Yeah, it was a good beat.

Alice to Fence Lizard: Did you like that? What do you say?

Alice to Readers: [Talking to] Mr. Fence Lizard.

Songbird (imitating deep voice of a Fence Lizard): FENCE Lizard doesn’t speak English.

Alice to Fence Lizard: Did you like that? [Deeper voice …] Did you like that? … Well? Did you like that?

Songbird to other Songbirds: Hee hee hee hee! Trying to be a Fence Lizard!

Raven: Walk! Walk!

Alice to Readers: There is suddenly a commotion. Something’s up. Mr. Raven’s challenging Mr. Hawk to a contest in the sky.

Raven: Walk! Walk! Walk! [etc.]

Alice to Raven: Walk Walk Walk? [etc.]

Alice to Raven: Very low! Right! Very low voice!

Songbird to Alice: Right! He thinks he’s you!

Alice to Songbird (in her lowest possible voice): Subsonic. Subsonic.

Raven: Walk! Walk!

Alice to Raven: Walk Walk Walk.
