Meditation on the Deep Inner Heart to Create an Auric Shield . by Alice B. Clagett

Written and published on 18 March 2014; revised and republished on 3 February 2018

Dear Ones,

I have been on a hunt for the Hridaya Chakra, the deepest and most sacred energy of the heart chakra. As with many things in the spiritual realm, there’s disagreement about it’s location.

Some folks feel that Hridaya is a name for a minor portion of the Anahata, the heart chakra in the center of the chest.

Some texts mention a point in the physical heart, to the left of the main heart chakra, and within the physical heart … They term this the Spiritual Heart or the Hridaya. I recall that Bill Ballard has succeeded in attaining this point of Awareness, and that he has found it to be a pretty spectacular spot on which to place the Awareness. (1)

I have my own ideas about this … I felt that the Hridaya might be a point deep within the Anahata … not a minor point, but the most important point in the human electromagnetic (EMF) array. On that supposition, I recently I tried meditating at heart level, at a point between the center of my chest and my back at heart level. To avoid confusion, I will call this the Deep Inner Heart.

What happened next was amazing … The world became very still, as if that physical point were ‘ground zero’ … the center of the Universe, and all the sensory array … what I saw and heard and so on … were flowing forth from this zero point energy. What a feeling! (2)

I was struck by the shape of the energy I felt … it was like the shield we often see behind the statues of the Buddha. It was behind my back, just touching the back of my body, and connected to it through that physical point I was concentrating on.

Here is a picture of the Buddha with a shield very like what I felt …

Image: Gilt Bronze Shakyamuni Buddha Statue, with a shield of energy behind the Buddha … https://www.npm.gov.tw/att/exbit/04000459/b_08009736.jpg ..

Intuition told me that I would begin to feel the energy of my Deep Inner Heart, the ‘shield’ energy … more and more in my physical body if I continued to practice this meditation. I also got the feeling that the shape of the shield was just a ‘first contact’ shape. That my Deep Inner Heart energy was, in fact, much more huge, and that I would experience it in different ways as time goes on.

Further, I got a warning feeling not to move farther behind the front of my body at heart level, in my Awareness … not to concentrate my attention just outside and behind my body at the level of the heart. I tried it anyway, being the curious sort … The alarm bells started ringing in my bodily sensations, and the visual field started to turn black. I stuck with it for a minute, but there was nothing behind my backbone worth exploring.

The whole experience, I gather, lies in the connection between the Deep Inner Heart and the physical body … in other words, bringing the energetic shield, the protective energy of the Deep Inner Heart, into the physical body.

More than You Ever Wanted to Know About Karma . from the Theosophists

Written and published on 9 February 2014; revised

  • MORE THAN YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT KARMA

Dear Ones,

Below is a quaint but vivid School of Theosophy description of the karma we all carry around with us from lifetime to lifetime.

By way of solace, I would like to mention this: I have heard that contemplation of the hridaya chakra, the hidden cave of the inner heart, can dissolve karmas. It does this by bringing the work of the Soul to the forefront in our lives. Personality and its distortions of truth recedes, and our true nature comes forth, thus offering a shortcut through what may seem from the below account to be a somewhat dismal and time-consuming project.

MORE THAN YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT KARMA

“H.P. Blavatsky, in her vivid, forceful and inimitable language, gives the following, description of the ego coming to rebirth., and being met by his Skandhas : ‘Karma, with its arm of Skandhas (1), waits at the threshold of Devachan (2), whence the Ego re-emerges to assume a new incarnation. It is at this moment that the future destiny of the now-rested Ego trembles in the scales of just retribution, as it now falls once again under the sway of active Karmic Law. It is in this rebirth which is ready for it, a rebirth selected and prepared by this mysterious, inexorable, but in the equity and wisdom of its decrees, infallible LAW, that the sins of the previous life of the Ego are punished.

“Only it is into no imaginary Hell, with theatrical flames and ridiculous tailed and horned devils, that the Ego is cast, but verily on to this earth, the plane and region of his sins, where he will have to atone for every bad thought and deed. As he has sown, so will he reap. Reincarnation will gather around him all those other Egos who have suffered, whether directly or indirectly, at the hands, or even through the unconscious instrumentality, of the past personality. They will be thrown by Nemesis in the way of the new man, concealing the old Eternal Ego…The new personality is no better than a fresh suit of clothes with its specific characteristics colour, form and qualities: but the real man who wears it is the same culprit as of old.’ (‘The Key to Theosophy,’ pp 141-2).

“Hence it is the law of Karma which guides the man unerringly towards the race and nation herein are to be found the general characteristics that will produce a body and provide a social environment fitted for the manifestation of the general character, built up by the Ego in previous earth-lives, and for reaping of the harvest he has sown….

“… the Ego, ere he plunges into the ‘Lethe (3) of the body’, sees  the causes which result in the conditions of the incarnation, on which he is to enter, and the opportunities which will be afforded for growth: hence it is easy to see how lightly will weigh in the balance all passing griefs and pains trivial, to that piercing, farseeing gaze, the joys and woes of earth.

“For what is each life but a step in the ‘Perpetual progress for each incarnating, Ego, or divine soul, in an evolution from the outward to the inward, from the material to the Spiritual, arriving at the end of each stage of absolute unity with the Divine Principle. From strength to strength, from the beauty and perfection of one plane to the greater beauty and perfection of another, with accessions of new glory, of fresh knowledge and power in each cycle, such is the destiny of every Ego’ (‘Key to Theosophy, p. 155).

“And as Annie Besant graphically puts it, ‘with such a destiny, what boots the passing suffering of a moment, or even the anguish of a darkened life?’

“Continuing with our brief examination of the question of the karma of an ego, it is possible to see the great mass of the accumulated karma – know as the sanchita or piled-up karma — hovering over the ego. Usually it is not a pleasant sight, because, by the nature of things, it contains more evil than good. The reason for this is as follows.

“In the earlier stages of their development most men have, through ignorance, done many things that they should not have done, and consequently have laid up for themselves, as a physical result, a good deal of suffering on the physical plane. The average civilised man, on the other hand, is trying to do good rather than harm, and therefore, on the whole, is likely to be making more good karma than bad. But by no means all of the good karma goes into the accumulated mass and so we get the impression in that mass of a preponderance of evil over good.

“This again needs further explanation. The natural result of good thoughts, or good actions, is to improve the man himself, to improve the quality of his vehicles, to bring out in him qualities of courage, affection, devotion, and so forth. These effects thus show themselves in the man himself, and in his vehicles, but not in the mass of piled-up karma which is waiting for him. If, however, he performs a good action, with the thought of its reward in his mind, then good karma for that action will come to him, and it will be stored up, with the rest of the accumulation, until such time as it can be brought forward, and materialised into activity.

“Such good karma naturally binds the man to earth just as effectually as evil karma: consequently, the man who is aiming at real progress learns to do all actions entirely without thought of self, or of the result of his action. This is not to say that any man can avoid the result of his actions, be they good or bad: but he can change the character of the result. If he forgets himself entirely, and does good actions out of the fulness of his heart, then the whole force of the result is spent in the building of his own character, and nothing of it remains to bind him to the lower planes. The fact is that in each case the man gets what he wants: in the words of the Jesus: ‘Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.’

“An ego may sometimes choose whether he will take certain karma in the present life, though often the brain consciousness may know nothing of the choice: the very adverse circumstances, at which a man is grumbling, may thus be exactly what he has deliberately chosen for himself, in order to forward his evolution.

“A pupil of a Master may often dominate and largely change his karma, setting in motion new forces in many directions, which naturally modify the working out of the old ones.

“All of us have more or less of evil karma behind us, and, until that is disposed of it will be a perpetual hindrance to us in our higher work. Hence one of the earliest steps, in the direction of serious progress, is to work out whatever of this evil still remains to us. This results in the Agents of Karma giving us the opportunity of paying off more of this debt, in order that the way may be cleared for our future work; this, of course, may, and often does, involve a considerable increase of suffering in various directions.

“The portion of karma selected for discharge in a particular life is known as ‘ripe’, or prarabda karma. With this in view , the mental, astral and physical bodies are constructed for a particular length of life.

“As a man’s will is free, it may happen that the karma selected for him, for particular life, is worked through sooner than the Administrators of Karma had expected, if one may put it that way. In such a case, They give him more, that being the explanation of the otherwise perplexing statement that ‘Whom the Lord loveth He Chasteneth’.

“The parabda karma of an individual divides itself into two parts. That which is to express itself in the physical body is made by the Devarajas into the elemental which builds the body, as described in the “Etheric Double,” Chapter XV.

“The other far larger block, which is to indicate his fate through life, the good or evil fortune which is to come to him, is made into another thought–form which does not descend. Hovering over the embryo, it remains upon the mental plane. From that level it broods over the man, and takes or makes opportunities, to discharge itself by sections, sending down from itself a flash like lightening to strike, or a finger to touch, sometimes far down on the physical plane, sometimes a sort of extension which reaches only the astral plane, and sometimes what we may call a horizontal flash or finger upon the mental plane.

“This thought-form goes on discharging itself until it is quite empty, and then returns to the matter of the plane. The man can of course, modify its action by the new karma which he is constantly making. The ordinary man has usually scarcely will enough to create any strong new causes, and so the elemental empties itself of its contents according to what may be described as its original programme, taking advantage of convenient astrological periods and surrounding circumstances, which make its work easier or more effective. And so the horoscope of the man may work out with considerable exactitude.

“But if the man be sufficiently developed to possess a strong will, the elemental’s action is likely to be much modified, and the life will by no means follow the lines laid down in the horoscope. Sometimes the modifications introduced are such that the elemental is unable fully to discharge itself before the time of the man’s death. In that case, whatever is left of it is again absorbed into the great mass of the sanchita or accumulated karma, and out of that another and more or less similar elemental is made, ready for the next physical life.”

Releasing the Shadow and the Tribe, and Connecting to Soul Purpose . by Alice B. Clagett

Dear Ones,

The Arcturian Council: Shadow Work video (below) by Arcturus Ra has quite a few interesting ideas in it.

THE DARK NETWORK AND THE UNCONSCIOUS THOUGHT CLOUD OF THE WORLD

For instance, he talks about a vision of the dark web all over Earth that takes advantage of the Unconscious Thought Cloud of the World. Its nature is not to our advantage. Arcturus Ra explains how to deal with it, how to be a strong and self-directed Soul.

I like where he describes the body as an apartment building with a lot of units in it. Then he says, we are the landlords of our apartment buildings. Then he says (to paraphrase), if some tenant or other in your apartment building hasn’t paid the rent, and you are not aware of this, then that is like the dark web moving into your apartment building. When we are unconscious, the darkness can move into us. Arcturus Ra has a very unique point of view. But I will leave it to you to hear the rest directly …

Video: “Arcturian Council :Shadow Work !!!” by Arcturus Ra, 3 February 2014 … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEPQecwGfbg ..

I noticed at 17.15 on the video where Arcturus Ra is talking about outfoxing the Darkness, and then his camera starts to fall off the rock. Twice. For no apparent reason…. These are the kinds of tricks … seems like … that I run into when I do a video about the Dark. I also run into ‘mind mud’ and ‘mind slides’ … where I start to talk, and my tongue slows down, or my mind slides over a word over and over again. Some people call this a Dark Attack, but really, it is more like Light is about to come in, and the Dark is dancing a little anticipatory tap dance, you know?

Also note, at the bottom of this blog, how one of the rocks in the video looks like it has a face. It almost seems as if the spirits of the natural world were helping Arcturus Ra as neutral witnesses to his talk.

ON THE IMPORTANCE OF RELAXING THE ABDOMEN: THE THIRD CHAKRA … THE TRIBAL CHAKRA

Recently I have experimented with consciously relaxing the abdomen. The effects on me were quite interesting …

  • The energy of my electromagnetic field became unstuck from my mental notions, both conscious and unconscious, apparently, and the energy began to circulate and flow freely.
  • My own idea about this is that will power, centered in the abdomen, can start us on the path to freedom from the ‘dark web’ that Arcturus Ra mentions.
  • It can help us clear addictions and straighten out our lives.

As Arcturus Ra mentions, the navel point … the third chakra … is a tribal chakra. It connects us with our tribe, keeps us humming to their tune [as do the first and second chakras]. To fully be our own person, we need to release the third chakra energy, and relaxing the abdomen allows that to happen, I feel.

HRIDAYA CHAKRA MEDITATION TO ACTIVATE SOUL POWER

After we release the abdomen we can place our awareness on the inner cave of the heart … the hridaya chakra … located at the level of the heart chakra, but situated deep inside the body, just in front of the spine … to activate our Soul power, to purify, complete, and align our incarnations and our past and present karmic relationships, and further our Soul purpose. Pretty cool stuff, coming round the bend.

The great mystical poet Rumi has also spoken about the hridaya chakra. He said that a star appears there, more brilliant than the seven heavens.

Here is more on the Hridaya, paraphrased from an unknown source:

  • Creation is like a river of energy flowing from the Hridayam. Through Samadhi it is known.
  • Through the Hridaya we can have the courage to make choices beyond the karmic realm. This is what is meant by ‘following the heart’: by concentrating on the Hridaya, we rise above the tribal lower chakras, and choose to follow the higher self.
  • Here we can transform all that is negative, all darkness, all karma to light and love and joy.
  • By placing awareness on the Hridaya, we can co-create New Life on New Earth.
  • Through the Hridaya we experience unconditional love, a sense of the All, and empathy for all things … even for minerals and rocks.
  • Through Hridaya we can heal.
  • Hridaya is the Soul’s seat, the very Center. (1)

Dear Ones,

THE BENEFITS OF DEVELOPING AND BALANCING THE HEART CHAKRA

This blog describes a series of steps to help us develop and balance the heart chakra. The result will be neutral mind, compassion, empathy, and plugging into the Infinite as a wellspring of vitality, health, and longevity.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND SELF-SACRIFICE

Unconditional love is not, as many believe, self-sacrifice. Rather, it is a chance to be all we truly are, to allow our heart energy field to expand so that it encompasses all the other chakras.

In this way, we permanently rise above the machinations of Team Dark. Or to put it another way, we are able to feel our being in a way that is unconstricted by the divisions (autonomic / voluntary, and so on) of our neural net. We begin to experience unity or oneness … the unity field.

WHAT THE HEART CHAKRA LOOKS LIKE: TWO CONJOINED FUNNELS

The energy of the heart chakra flows out in two whirling cones of energy, shaped like funnels. The tips of the funnels touch deep in the chest, at a spot between the nipples but located next to the backbone.

The Hridaya: The Deep Inner Heart

This spot is the deep inner heart, where a ‘zero point’ or black hole connects us with the realm of infinite possibilities. It is this spot on which you will concentrate after the front and back cones are brought to Awareness and cleansed of Soul wounding. This hidden inner heart is where we feel unconditional love.

A DEPICTION OF THE DOUBLE CONES OF THE CHAKRAS

This image gives a good idea of the conformation of the body energy discussed in this blog. It depicts double cones for all the chakras …

Image: Double-funnel chakras of the human energy field …  https://i0.wp.com/www.canalwoman.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/chakrasdrawing.jpg?resize=400%2C354 ..

The Kundalini

The lower, red funnel (at the rectum) and the upper, violet funnel (at the top of the head) are actually one long funnel; the connecting cord is the kundalini energy. It is along the line of the kundalini … where the kundalini intersects the junction of the cones of the heart chakra … that the hridaya, the deep inner heart, is located.

The Heart Chakra

The heart chakra is depicted in green … In the above-mentioned image, you can see the two green funnels, meeting at the center line of the body. Or slightly behind the point depicted, a little more toward the backbone.

Chakras, Pre-Ascension and Post-Ascension

This picture of the chakras is the pre-Ascension scheme. After Ascension there are 5 or so additional chakras.

FRONT CONE OF THE HEART CHAKRA: COMPASSION AND EMPATHY

Many Lightworkers are adept at feeling the front cone of the heart chakra. This feeling allows them to develop empathy with all living beings.

This energy of the front cone of the heart is the energy through which we relate to other human beings. It is not necessarily corded energy, as with a family member or friend, but sometimes it expresses itself in that way.

Energetic Movement of the Front Cone of the Heart Chakra

Here is an image that, to me, depicts the energetic motion of the front cone of the heart chakra, only laid on its side …

Image: Drop of water falling into a green body of water and down into the water, with ripples on the surface of the water … http://www.deniselinn.com/graphics/Chakra-Portal-4.jpg ..

I like the ripple effect, which reminds me of how the heart chakra energy ripples outward in ever widening circles through a person’s own energy field. The descending droplet of water in the image reminds me of divine Awareness, incoming through the deep inner heart, and outgoing into the phenomenal world through the front cone of a person’s heart chakra.

To Open and Vivify the Front Cone of the Heart

Arching the Back and Expanding the Chest While Standing. Stand up.  Arch the back backwards, expanding the chest. Arms can be up, above the head, for extra arching effect. Or hands can be on hips, for less of an arch. Or arms can be low and pushed back, as in this image …

Image: Taoist Arch: Standing up and arching the back, arms back … http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5141/3105/1600/taoist.jpg ..

Camel Pose. This pose is a little more difficult: In a kneeling position, grasp the ankles. Let the trunk of the body rise upward and outward. Let the head fall back, as you arch the back backwards and expand the chest outward …

Image: “File:Ustrasana – Camel Pose.jpg,” in Wikimedia Commons … https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ustrasana_-_Camel_Pose.jpg ..

Placing Awareness on the Front Cone of the Heart. Here are the steps to develop daily Awareness of the front cone of the heart …

FEEL your heart energy in the middle of the front of your chest. As you go about your day, feel the distortions in the smooth conical whirl of heart energy. OR feel the little pains or stiffness or heavinesses in your heart … whatever it feels like … from moment to moment.

NOTICE how other people’s heart energy feels to you. If you cannot feel their heart energy, just imagine that you can. Make a game of it. Both ways are equally effective.

NOTICE how the energy of the front cone of your heart reacts to the dimples … twists … heaviness of other people’s hearts. Or if you cannot feel their hearts, notice how your heart energy changes in the presence of other people. Either way is fine.

NOTICE how your heart springs back from its momentary distortions … how it returns to its native smooth conical configuration in the middle of your chest.

IF BODILY SENSATIONS distant from the heart assert themselves, place your Awareness on those sensations. When they subside, bring your attention back to your heart.

BACK CONE OF THE HEART CHAKRA: THE INFINITE WELL OF VITALITY, HEALTH AND LONGEVITY

The back cone of the heart chakra allows us to relate to the Infinite well of vitality, health and longevity. Very few people consciously practice Awareness of this back cone of the heart, yet there are compelling reasons to do so …

Reasons for Developing This Energy

Preventing Lightworker Burnout. The back cone of the heart must be enlivened and brought to Awareness in order to prevent Lightworker empathic burnout.

Overcoming a Codependent Behavior Pattern. Its vivification also prevents codependency … the energy of accommodation to a person who is an addict.

Escaping from the Snares of an Antisocial Personality, who relies on receiving love from other people while at the same time withholding his own energy of love from others. Energetic attachment to an antisocial personality cannot be escaped unless the energy of the back funnel of the heart is as strong as that of the front funnel of the heart. Yet the action of predation by an antisocial personality creates a feeling that there is ‘no one to watch my back’; this feeling further weakens the back of the heart. Thus it is doubly important to strengthen the energy of the back of the heart when attachment to the energy of an antisocial personality occurs.

Energetic Balance of the Entire Heart. In energetic terms, developing this energy of the back heart funnel allows us to balance and vivify the entire heart chakra.

To Locate the Back Cone of the Heart Chakra

Place Your Awareness on the Area Between the Shoulder Blades. According to “The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of International Medicine,” written over 4,000 years ago, wind and cold enter the pores of the skin through acupressure points located here.

Image: Line drawing of a person’s back, showing two double sets of acupressure points (each consisting of 2 points on either side of the spine), starting just below the neck and ending mid-shoulder blade. The legend of the image states: “Relieves upper back tension, difficult breathing, insomnia, hypertension, trauma, and emotional pain” … http://www.acupressure.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/upper-back-pts1.gif ..

The lowest set of 4 points in the image is the most important for vivifying the back cone of the heart chakra. But the area on which you will be placing your Awareness includes the place between the lower part of your shoulder blades as well, and around the ‘wing tips’ of the shoulder blade. All this area is involved in the back funnel of the heart.

To Open and Vivify the Back Cone of the Heart Chakra

Here is how to open and vivify the back cone of the chakra …

Go for a Back Massage. Lie face down, hands with palms flat on the mat next to your shoulders. Ask the person giving the massage to concentrate on the area between and around the edges of your shoulder blades.

Use a Wooden Spinal Massage Roller, gently, to loosen up the muscles between your shoulder blades.

Swinging a Bat. Here is an ancient Indian practice to ‘unstick’ this area: While standing, swing a thick branch or club gently back and forth. Or you can use a baseball bat.

Yoga Mudra. Or, you can open up the energy flow in this area with yoga mudra: Sit on your heels, grasping your hands behind the back. Bring the forehead to the floor and stretch the clasped hands up to the ceiling. Hold this position with long, deep breathing for at least 3 minutes.

Here is an image of a gentler modification of this technique …

Image: Yoga Mudra: A man is sitting cross-legged on the floor, but it would be all right to sit on a stool instead. Fingers are interlaced behind his back. He is gently bending his chest down toward the floor … http://www.pinklotus.org/KYscanned/asanas%20Yoga%20Mudra%20asana.jpg ..

Place Awareness on the Back Cone of the Heart. After you practice the technique of your choice, feel the energy of the back cone of your heart. Notice how it closes down and opens up.

Practice Allowing the Back Cone of the Heart to Relax. If the energy of the back cone of the heart contracts, allow it to return to its native, smoothly flowing conical state.

ON OPENING THE ENTIRE HEART CHAKRA

Cat Cow Pose

On all fours, arch the spine up and down, gently. When the spine is arched up, the head tucked in. When the spine is arched down, the head is arched back …

On the downward arch, the front funnel of the heart chakra is vivified. On the upward arch, the back funnel of the heart chakra is vivified.

Meditation on the Hridaya
Channeled by Alice B. Clagett
4 December 2013

Pose. Sit on a chair, feet flat on the ground, back straight but relaxed, hands palm down on your legs, chin ever so slightly tucked in.

Breathing. Make your breathing as long and deep as is comfortable for you.

Roving Gaze, Horizontal or Higher. Let your eyes be open and either horizontal or higher. Do not look down, and do not concentrate on any one point. One-pointed concentration, as advocated in many yoga texts, allows a person to escape from the body, into the higher realms. This is a nice ‘preview of coming attractions,’ but it is a bit of a sidetrack too. What we want is to bring heaven down to Earth. Right down into our physical being. So, let the eyes rove where they will, as long as you’re looking at the horizon or higher.

Where to Place Awareness. Place the Awareness at a point in your body between the nipples, but deep within the body, just in front of the spinal column. This is the point where we can feel unconditional love. Continue for 3 minutes.

Benefits. When you are accustomed to this deep inner heart meditation, you can begin to use it whenever you find yourself too drawn into the events of the day. It will balance and neutralize the karma that is playing out before your eyes. It will allow you to go beyond the causal body, and to become aware of your body of Light.

In love, light and joy

Dear Ones,

I am writing this post for an acquaintance of mine, who just cannot locate the politeness to accept me as I am. Do you not hate it when folks try to make you over in their image? I do, for sure.

I ran across this in an article on deep-sea female angler fish recently …

There are anglerfish living deep in the ocean. It is dark down there, and the females have bioluminescent ‘lures’ attractive to that which they wish to eat. These ‘lures’ also attract male anglerfish. Once they find a mate, they hold onto her for life …

ALLUREMENT: ON USING LOVE AS A LURE

That reminded me of how we humans sometimes use Love as a Lure. I’m speaking of the outward-pouring of love from the heart chakra, not the neutral, unconditional love characteristic of the deep inner heart, the hridaya.

ON ‘DOING’ LOVE

This outward-pouring love is what you might call ‘doing’ love. I’m ‘doing’ love to someone else. And I’ve noticed, when this happens, I’m ‘doing’ it for a reason. Invariably ‘to do’ with my lower chakras. I ‘want’ security. I ‘need’ sex. I ‘have’ to control someone. And there you have it. Love in the service of the Lower Triangle (the first three chakras old style: the basal chakra, sexual chakra, and navel point).

ON FALLING IN LOVE

So then, how does the play unfold? ‘I’ ‘love’ ‘you’! WAY SO. ‘You’ ‘love’ ‘me’! WOW. We’re ‘in love’. We get married. And then, onto our stage march insecurity, sexual addiction, greed, possessiveness, jealousy, etc etc and OUT OUT OUT goes the flame of love. o sigh.

ON FEIGNING ROMANTIC LOVE

OR, heaven forfend, we may consciously use the Love Lure to attach a person to us. And then, The Games Begin. Happens often with men … I love you!  … Wedding bells. And then it is the Everyday Ed thing … sex on demand. And do the housework. Get the abortion. Go to work to help pay the mortgage.

FOR WOMEN: ON MISTAKING A MAN’S ONE NIGHT STAND FOR TRUE ROMANCE

OR, and this is a man or woman thing: I love you! … O wow!  … and: Oops! One night stand.
AND then sometimes, there is a sequel: Oops! Pregnant! Who was that masked marauder, anyway?

FOR MEN: ON MISTAKING A WOMAN’S FINANCIAL INSECURITY FOR TRUE ROMANCE

But sometimes it is a woman thing. I love you! … Wedding bells. Uh oh, she really just wants my money. Or my house. Or to destroy my heart utterly.

FOR MEN: ON BEING ATTACHED TO A WOMAN WHO LIKES TWO MEN

Here is an interesting picture: a female deep-sea angler fish (the big fish in the picture). Using her love Light (which dangles from the front of her head) she has lured in two male angler fish. They are a lot smaller than she is. You can see them in the picture, stuck there next to her tail. For life? Guess so. This picture reminds me vividly of a woman I met once. Two men not sufficing, she was angling for a woman lover too.

Dear Lord! Save me! I can definitely see the al-Lure of Unconditional Love.
