Today, 23 April 2026, a strong R3-class radiation storm is taking place. There have been an X2-class solar flare and several M-class flares today. Kp is currently mild. Protonfall is quite low.
PRACTICAL ADVICE
During this time, drink plenty of fluids, meditate, ground, sleep. Practice neutral mind. Best not to drive, unless you feel quite confident to do so.
It is best not to travel by air at times when the Sun is quite active; if you are able to rearrange a flight at such times, please consider doing so.
NOAA/SWPC advises re R3-class radiation storms to be aware of radio blackout impacts, as follows …
“HF Radio: Wide area blackout of HF radio communication, loss of radio contact for about an hour on sunlit side of Earth.
“Navigation: Low-frequency navigation signals degraded for about an hour.”
Set your mind at peace. Place your attention on your quiet breath. All will be well.
I am not certain whether there will be an Earth-directed CME as a result of the X2-class solar flare. If that should be the case, and if a CME should impact Earth a few days from now, then the following links may be helpful …

Protonfall Scale
Solar wind speed (km/sec) multiplied by Density (cm3) … Compare to the word: rainfall.
Low Protonfall is from zero to about 3,000.
Moderate Protonfall is from 3,000 to 6,000.
High Protonfall is from 6,000 to 15,000 or higher.
