‘Take Shelter’ . movie review by Alice B. Clagett

I skimmed through the movie ‘Take Shelter’ the other day …

I find the movie interesting because the recurring images experienced by the male protagonist seem like what I term ‘image words’ from the gut brain (the subconscious mind’s vocabulary). It is good how the ending shows that a family can stand together and shelter in faith in each other, and love of each other, even if the subconscious mind is creating what the Ascensioneers call ‘vivid waking dreams’, in the case of the movie, more like vivid waking nightmares.

The movie also shows how one person’s fearful ‘mental filter’ (that of the husband in the movie) can influence another person (in this case the wife) to take on the same ‘mental filter’.

As a phenomenon, the tendency of the human mind to broadcast mental filters can be either good or bad. The difference has to do with the tenor of the emotional portion of the images that are broadcast. Is the emotion negative or positive? That is the key to the effect that broadcasting of one’s own mental filters has on other people.

For instance, in the movie ‘Take Shelter’ one of the visually striking images that recur in the mind of the male protagonist is a ‘murmuration’ of birds, perhaps starlings or sparrows. This is an aerial phenomenon rather like the simultaneous turning and wheeling motion of schools of fish in the water …

In the movie ‘Take Shelter’, the male protagonist feels a recurring anxious feeling, a feeling of  foreboding. It is, I feel, because of the negative tenor of his emotion that he takes his recurring image of a murmuration of dark-colored birds to be an omen of impending apocalypse.

Yet many people see a murmuration of birds, and feel joy or wonderment when they see it. Such is the case with the young women in this video …

It is clear, then, that it is the feeling that accompanies visualization of an image that causes its perception as a good image or a bad image.

When a person has recurring images popping up from the subconscious mind, and when these images are accompanied by a strongly negative emotion … one that is hard to deal with without ‘acting out’ … then psychologists might term that condition Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (as with COVID stress). Or they might term it ‘generalized anxiety’; or if the emotions get out of hand, they might term it ‘panic attack’. There is also the psychological term ‘paranoid schizophrenia’, which I gather might be a label for recurring ‘panic attacks’ as in the movie.

Broadcasting of mental filters has a good effect in cases where a person’s mental filters allow him to send forth uplifting images from the subconscious mind. In these instances, families or groups such as social circles and church congregations can stand together with courage against adversity.

Broadcasting of mental filters has a bad effect in cases such as that in the movie, where the protagonist’s fearful mental images cause his wife to become fearful, and cause his Ohio small town community to turn against him and label him mentally imbalanced. Broadcasting of negatively aspected mental filters can, I feel, cause what is termed ‘folie à deux’, ‘folie à famille’, ‘folie à coterie’ (that is, a delusion shared by two people, by a family, or by a small group); or in the case of crowds of people, ‘mass hysteria’. The latter may take place across a town, or across a nation, or even … due to the near-instantaneous nature of global communication … worldwide, as is the case with COVID fears.

Please do not misunderstand: It is not that we ought not take proper precautions regarding COVID; it is just that negatively aspected images to do with COVID can cause inappropriate actions … or no action at all, when action is in fact needed so as to preserve life. For instance, it may well be that COVID vaccines are a ‘hard sell’ worldwide because people are experiencing ‘fawn’, ‘freeze’, or ‘flop’ types of threat responses after taking in too much in the way of online images that cause them to feel the emotion of fear regarding COVID.

In cases where a person is affected by other people’s broadcasting of negatively aspected mental filters (such as with the relentless COVID newscasts last year), the person must learn to view negatively aspected mental images with a neutral mind, as does the male protagonist in the movie ‘Take Shelter’. Through cutting down on visual intake of negative images … for instance, by limiting one’s viewing of negative images online … anxiety about the future can be dealt with nonreactively. Or one may simply stand strong and still, while the image is visualized, until the negative feeling ebbs away.

That means to me that the true ‘shelter’ for one’s mind is a strong, still, neutral stance of mind despite the ups and downs of daily life.

Martian Archives: Cancer Rate, Chlorine in Drinking Water, and Probiotics . by Alice B. Clagett

Hello, Dear Ones, It’s Alice. I Am of the Stars.

I heard the weirdest astral story just now! I heard from the Martian bacterial colonists of my large intestine that when chlorine was introduced into the drinking water in the cities, in the suburbs, they had to develop a workaround, through recombinant DNA technology, so that they could survive in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract of human beings, and that they think that this workaround may be affecting the cancer rate in human beings.

I know there has been a big increase in cancer rates; but I am not sure how the issue of chlorine in drinking water would relate to that. And so, I ask that those of you who are in that medical field look into life expectancy before and after the introduction of chlorine into drinking water, in specific locales. A combination of various locales might be best, so as to avoid error in the data, and to improve the strength of the data.

If chlorine in drinking water is in fact correlated with higher cancer rates in humans, one might think of looking at these lines of research …

  • Since positive emotions affect longevity, then is it possible that chlorine in drinking water is affecting emotion in human beings?
  • Since too much stress affects health adversely, could it be that chlorine in our drinking water affects the level of expression of stress in the body?
  • Would these higher cancer rates be because of the chlorine itself, or is it something that the chlorine is killing, in the human colon … something that would otherwise be beneficial for human longevity?

If the chlorine is correlated with higher cancer rates in humans, then I would look into workarounds for that … For instance, might otherwise be beneficial to human beings? Would there be a simple way to neutralize the chlorine in the drinking water in the home, prior to drinking it? Would water filter systems in the homes … maybe even Brita types of filter systems that are available in the large department store chains … would they eliminate the chlorine from drinking water?

Is not chlorine a base (as opposed to an acid)? Would there be a way to buffer the water in the home, so that the pH in the water would be more similar to the pH in the body itself, and more compatible with the pH requirements of our Martian bacterial colonists of the large colon?

If higher cancer rates are found, and if they are the result of something the chlorine is killing in the human colon, might that ‘something’ be beneficial bacteria … perhaps an organism commensal to bacteria, or perhaps a certain strain of bacteria?

Just now I was looking at an abstract that showed use of probiotics has a positive effect on nervous system function, and use of probiotics can help allay anxiety, depression, autism, obsessive-compulsive behavior, and memory impairment …

The abstract mentions improvement in mood, for instance, which might affect stress level. Could it possibly be, then that use of probiotics might allay an as-yet-unanalyzed cancer correlation for those that drink chlorinated water?

By ‘probiotics’ are meant certain types of beneficial bacteria, in particular, Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus. So then, might populations of these bacteria, amongst the gut flora, be those longevity-sustaining gut symbionts that are adversely affected by chlorine in drinking water? If so, then their re-introduction into the gut might reverse the putative deleterious effect of the chlorine.

Hello, Dear Ones, It’s Alice. I am of the Stars.

I think I already explained why people get cancer, but I will explain it in another way … You know, we have all these trillion, or trillions, of cells in the body. And they have simple feelings. They are not intellectual, but they are living beings. And they have simple feelings …

They may feel joy, or they may feel fear, or they might feel hungry. They do not want to lose consciousness either. They want to be awake and aware that they are alive. In that they have a Godlike quality, because some of God’s qualities are Awareness and joy, like that.

They have a lighthearted feeling when they are healthy, when they are happy. If a person that has all of these cells in him or her, does something to interfere with their basic needs … to make them unhappy, like maybe the wrong kind of diet, or not getting enough sleep, or some habit that is injurious to the health; for instance … does not get enough exercise; or maybe has a lot of stress in their life; the kind of stress that is too hard to overcome; that is not a challenge … It is more like a drag and a drain …

If the person himself or herself is not a very happy person; is not very careful of the needs of the body, then the cells can fall into a state of despair. When they fall into a state of despair … thinking that their lives will end; that there is no one that loves them; that the big person in charge of them does not love them … then they begin to multiply faster than usual.

The notion there is that,the more of them there are, the more their chances of continuing. It is a survival technique. That is what we Lightworkers call ‘cancer’. We call cellular despair ‘cancer’.

In order to prevent that … and this is the lore that is known to Western medicine … we need to do the things that make our bodies healthy … all the things that the Western medical doctors and nurses say. Then our cells will be happy. (That is the part that people did not know.) When they are happy, they will have no despair. And then we will have no cancer.

Judging from the amount of cancer in the United States today, I would say that there are a lot of people that are not able to maintain their body cells in a happy state. Why this is, each person needs to examine for himself or herself, I feel.

So that is the answer. The solution is easy to conceive and hard to implement.

This is one of the most effective meditations I know of to tranquilize the mind. I used to use it while teaching beginner kundalini yoga classes many years ago. Nearly instant peace of mind, wow!

Take care to place the fingers in position exactly as described.

The link mentions chanting a mantra. A mantra is a word or word phrase used to regulate one’s own mind. The words of each mantra have a particular quality, rhythm, and effect. In the case of this meditation, since the mantra is to be repeated 11-21 times, all on the same breath, I always used to pick a pretty short mantra. Here are a few possibilities:

“Allah”
“Jehovah”
“Sat Naam” (meaning ‘truth is my name’ or ‘truth is where it’s at’)
“Om” (a name for God immanent and transcendent)
“Amen” (meaning ‘so be it’)

Of course you can use a longer mantra, too. A few examples:

“Jesus Christ, Lord of the Universe” or
“Jesus, Light of My Life” or
“Mother Mary, pray for me” or
“God, please guide me”

But if you use a longer mantra, you will want to repeat it less than 11 times … just keep within your comfort zone.

Keeping within the comfort zone is important for everyone, and especially so for young people and for expectant mothers. I figure, I cannot expect to feel my heart and live my life from love if I cannot allow myself always to be in my comfort zone.
