10-Lined June Beetle aka Watermelon Beetle and Beatles’ Era Music . photos by Alice B. Clagett

Dear Ones,

Since I saw a Paul McCartney lookalike … maybe an actor impersonator … in the lower parking lot of Malibu Creek State Park yesterday … parked just across from my favorite, shady parking place … I thought I would put these Beetle photos online for you, along with some music reminiscent of the Beatles’ era.

(Good pun, huh?) No more procrastinating!

This is the 10-Lined June Beetle, otherwise known as the Watermelon Beetle. It stopped by to say hi to Hermes the Peace Dove, and then took a nap there.

I feel this 10-Lined June Beetle has character. I liked the Beetle very much. I like Green June Beetles too, but I haven’t seen any this year. I hear their children eat the roots of lawn grass, but that is not an issue for me as I went ‘water wise’ a few years ago …

I started out on the trail and … don’t you know! … four of the most rough looking sorts of men … with another man … red-capped … and a woman in tow … came right after me onto the trail.

Those four men looked like Sumo wrestlers with tattoos all over. So I doubled back very quickly by a different route, and here I am, talking to you.

P.S. After doubling back I cooled my heels awhile. Then I started back on my hike. A ranger vehicle was just turning out of Crags Road onto the blacktop by the parking lot, so I asked the ranger if he had spotted the Sumo wrestlers. He said he had just gone up Crags Road and back, and he didn’t see them.

Huh! They disappeared? How could anyone that large fail to be spotted? The more so, for four of them?

So I walked up Crags Road just as far as the trail up the hill by the water tower, and settled for a quick ‘up and back’. I saw five regular hikers who extended the usual trail courtesy.

So I got my hike in after all! –Alice

To avoid misunderstandings, I would like to state clearly that I believe in nonviolence. I believe we humans ought not harm other beings.

Sometimes antisocial people think that I am like them. That is not the case. I am offering you these images with no sub-agenda.

In other words, I am an empath, not a psychopath. I receive psychic impressions, but I then use physical conditioning (such as navel point strengthening exercises or yoga or hiking in the natural world) to erase these impressions from my energy field and to return to the clarity of my own energy field.

Given all that, take a look at these images. Do you see any similarities? Do you see any differences? Can you draw any conclusions?
