Songbird: GREAT CHER-ries!

Raven: STOP TALK-ing!

Songbird: WHY? They’re GREAT CHER-ries.

Raven: Hawk might hear you.

Songbird: Oh!

Alice: Apple! Cherry!

Songbird: Wait! I’m COUNT-ing. One. Two. Three. She gave us three cherries! [excitedly]: She gave us three cherries! She gave the Songbirds three cherries!

Alice: Apples! Red Apples! Cherries! Red Cherries! [x2]

Songbird: She gave us three cherries! Sweet Jesus! Three cherries! Great God, three cheeries! Three cherries! Three cherries! [etc etc.]

Songbird: YEP! Three cherries!

Alice: Apples! Cherries!

Songbird: YEP! Three cherries! [etc etc.]

Alice: YEP!

Songbird: THANK you!

Alice: You’re WEL-come! Thank YOU!

Raven [staccato speech means a command]: I beg you to stop talking right now.

Songbird: WHY would we?

Raven: The Hawk might come and eat you all up.

Songbird (to Raven): HAWK might eat us? HAWK might eat us? THANK you! Thank you very much!

. . . . .

Alice: I just put some apple sections …

Raven: Red Apple here!

Alice: … RED Apple sections and Cherries outside for the Ravens and the Songbirds. And there has been vast excitement out there. The Songbirds were very excited talking to each other.

They said: “Cherries! Cherries are sweet! Cherries for the Ravens!”

And I said: “Cherries for Songbirds too!”

And then things got crazy. They said: “Cherries for Songbirds!” And suddenly both Ravens … Father Raven and Mother Raven … were sitting on the roof. Mother Raven said “Ook!” .. which means “Look! It means look at something that she is very happy to see. I guess she is about to discover what is there.

It is really a blast, if you ever get a chance to offer fruit to the Songbirds or the Ravens. It is just a lot of fun.

Songbird: AP-ples! (x4)! Red AP-ples! (x2) Sweet AP-ples! AP-ples! AP-ples!

Mother Raven: AP-ples! (x3)

Songbird: AP-ples! [Quietly:] Dear me, Hawk is coming.

Dog: Oh nooo!

Mother Raven: Hawk!

Dog: Oh God, Oh Hawk, Oh no! HAWK!

[Alice: Hawks sometimes attack Dogs and frighten them.]

Mother Raven: Hawk!

Dog: Oh God, Oh no.

Raven: Hawk!

Human 1: What’s up?

Dog: Oh God, Hawk is in tree. Oh God, Oh no. Iis! Help me! Iis!

Human 1: Ok, I got that.

Dog: God! Help me!

Raven: Hawk!

Songbird: Hawk?

Dog: Yes! It is a Hawk!

God help me! Please help me!

Human 1: Ok, I’ll help you right now.

Raven [learning a new phrase]:  ‘HELP me! HELP me!’

Human 1: There! Look right there. There’s a Red Hawk there. Can you see it?

Dog: Great God, no!

Songbird: What?

Dog: God, oh God, oh no, oh no! Red Hawk, God! God no!

Mother Songbird [softly]: Red Hawk, is it?

Father Songbird [boldly]: Yes. Red Hawk.

Dog: RED HAWK!

Dog: RED HAWK no GOOD. RED HAWK is just AW-ful.

Dog: RED HAWK  … is GRUE-some. Red Hawk is NO GOOD. BAD HAWK!

Human 1: What is all that?

Dog: Bad Hawk!

Human 2: He thinks that Hawk might attack his eyes. That’s why he is all upset.

[Alice: Human talk here and following is nearly inaudible. Likely I got it wrong.]

Human 3: What is that noise all about?

Human 1: His eyes are closed up.  He’s afraid that that Hawk might attack his eyes.

Human 3: That’s not really true. That Hawk won’t attack his eyes.

Human 1 [to Dog]: I can’t understand why you think this thing.

Songbird: Right!

Human 1: Don’t worry about that type of thing. Ok? That Hawk isn’t going to attack you at all.

Human 2 to Human 1: Thank you for explaining all that, but the man up the street said his Dog had his eyes pulled out and they took him to the Doctor and they couldn’t do anything to save his eyes.

[Songbirds utter expressions of dismay.]

[Alice: Oh, gosh, no! One of my squirrels fell out of a tree and died a few weeks ago.  I could see it had been blinded. Could it have been the Hawk that did that?]

Dog: Oh no! They don’t believe me. Oh God. Oh no!

Mother Raven: Hawk! Hawk!

Songbirds utter expressions of dismay.

Dog: Oh no!

Songbird: GREAT big Hawk over there! [many times]

Mother Raven flies down and says: “Hawk!” five times.

Shoes Cat walks up to the screen to see what is happening outside.

Songbird: Great Jesus, Look at that! A great big animal is standing there. It will EAT me. It will EAT me. It will EAT me. It isn’t worth those CHER-ries!

Alice: Cherries! Cherries! Cherries! Yummy! Really yummy!

Songbird: Cherry is SUPER sweet!

Alice: Red Apple! Red Cherry!
