Praying Mantis [uttering a metallic, ‘shirring’ distress call; sounds a little like the call of a Cicada]: Please help me! Please! Oh God!
Praying Mantis [melodiously, starting quietly and ending in a loud voice]:What am I going to DO-O-O-O?
[Then high-pitched, sharply vocalizing]: GREAT God. Help me!
[Then, with the camcorder turned off, I lifted the Praying Mantis tenderly and put it on a nearby tree trunk. I had to do this very carefully, as they have ‘velcro’ on their toenails, and it will hurt their legs to pick them up before their toenails are detached from whatever they are standing on.]
