Dear Ones,
According to Space Weather … https://spaceweather.com … there has just been quite a big solar flare – X7.1. The flare will likely result in radio blackouts, as did the M-class flare yesterday.

Likely it represents something to do with the radio blackout then, although the blackout was said to affect the Pacific Ocean and not North America.
I tried to get some images of the Sun just now but it was way too bright to photograph.
Space Weather feels it possible that today’s X-flare may result in a CME that impacts Earth; we must wait for the ENLIL model on that, I suppose, and after that for the event.
If a CME strikes Earth, say with a glancing blow, then the resultant geostorm will likely occur two to three days from now.
As of 2 October 2024 NASA estimates the CME will arrive at Earth on 5 October 2024.
