This little rock here … If you could see it, you would see tiny little sparkles from the afternoon Sun. But it could be the camera filters out the sparkles.

In addition to the rock, there are all these little colonies of lichen. See? They make the rock look different colors … kind of coruscated.

Lichen is a very interesting plant. I seem to recall that it is a combination of two different kinds of plants. Algae or cyanobacteria living symbiotically with fungi? … Completely different sorts of plants that live together in perfect harmony, in a close-knit community.
There is lichen everywhere, on the rocks around here. When I see lichen, I think about human society: How we might live in perfect harmony, even if we find ourselves to be very different from others living near us.
That is my lesson from nature for today. You all, take care.
