Dudes, Look at this. I finally got to the top of a long trek uphill, and now I am in the raw wilderness. I will show you. There are no freeways; there are no cars; there is nothing but ranges and ranges of mountains. Check it out.

Here is another view of an escarpment down the road a way. [Shows escarpment.} And the rode continues going downhill.

Around the corner from the escarpment, it seems to me the road degenerates from a tar top, on down to a dry silt dirt road, then goes on over the edge of that mountain there. Can you see it? See there? [Shows road grade going over edge of mountain.]

I have heard these are called ‘cow patties’, and that there are lots of them out this way. This is south of Pyramid Lake, on the west side of the road …

Well, I made it back. Looks like Whitaker Peak is 4 and a half miles. Then I went on for another mile or so. Looks like a 10-mile hike, and a pretty good day; a beautiful day in Southern California.
