Unified Mind and the Importance of the Arts in Childhood Education . by Alice B. Clagett

Dear Ones,


This is a message for our schools, both grade schools and high schools: To allow our children the experience of unified mind we must include the arts in childhood education. We must include music, dance, and visual arts, among others, in our childhood education programs so that our children may achieve stimulation of the left and right hemispheres of their brains and  unification of both hemispheres at an early age.

Children who have reached the age of reason have only recently set aside the intuitive mind of their early childhoods, which they developed through play and exploration of the world around them.

What we call ‘the Arts’ are formal or stylized expressions of this early learning mode, the play and exploration and tactile manipulation of the world through which our ‘inner child’, which even now, in later life, retains the memories of early childhood, developed its intuitive faculty.

Study of the arts soon after the age of reason is attained … after the left brain and the logical mind come into play … allows a child to integrate the Lower Mental Body of early childhood with the Higher Mental Body of later life. (1)

This creates a neuronal link between the two hemispheres of the brain, through the corpus callosum, which is a neuronal bridge in the brain. (2) The result is unified mind.

This more complete state of brain activity can be attained in later life, but it is much more easily attained in childhood, because the experience of relying on intuitive mind is much more recent, and more easily remembered. It is never too late, though; if you are an older person who has not yet achieved hemispheric integration … for instance, if you tend to be logical but not creative … then through study of the Arts you can attain that end.

Hello, Dear Ones, It’s Alice. I Am of the Stars.

I thought I would mention something about early childhood education, just as children begin to attain the age of reason. My feeling is … intuitively speaking … that it would be very good to help a child integrate the newly developing, Higher Mental Body with the Lower Mental Body at the very earliest possibility.

My suggestion to promote this united mind … unified mind … is to teach young children … allow them to go to classes in music … any kind of music … in dance, and in art. I realize these are topics that have been eliminated from many schools right now because of budget.

Parents can help with this by volunteering to teach children after school. It is extremely important because as the child advances in age it becomes more difficult … because of the distance between the experience of joyful spontaneity in early childhood, and the adult work-a-day world … the very distance, not only in time, but also in experience in the other direction … so it becomes very hard to do that.

I ask that the schools consider this; consider finding the funds to allow children to unify their minds in grade school and in high school. It is very, very important; so I feel. That is it for now, from the intuitive plane.
