Dear Ones.
Here is a great interview by Leath Tonino with Douglas Christie. This interview was published in The Sun Magazine, a favorite read of mine, as I have a notion that some of my writer and poet friends here in Los Angeles have their works published in it under pen names. Here is the interview …

The topic of the interview is the Christian tradition of leading the contemplative life, beginning with the desert fathers and mothers … the ‘abbas’ and ‘ammas’ … of the early Christian tradition. Hallmarks of this way of life, to which I as a Lightworker and a Christian have for many years subscribed, are living (insofar as is practical, in the current days) a secluded life, fasting, meditation in every waking moment, sexual abstinence, and prayer.
On a personal note, I cannot say I am making much headway on fasting (as you may surmise), but I find I am better than I used to be with some of the other signposts of this way of life, which may be all the aspiring ascetic and advaitist may hope for in the relatively short length of time we humans are on Earth.
The idea is to practice silence in daily life, so as to hear the voice of God within our own hearts and minds, and to carry out His will in our daily lives.
I see the early Christian desert fathers wrote a text called the “Apophthegmata Patrum Aegyptiorum” (‘The Sayings of the Desert Fathers’), which was a compilation of stories and sayings. Would that not be fun to read?! I see several versions of this book are offered in translation on Amazon.com.
In love, light and joy,
I Am of the Stars
