INTRODUCTION

Dear Ones,

Here is a video about a Deva of the Setting Sun. In this instance the camcorder coddles forth a diminishing view of a Deva of the Sunset, which has been morphed to the art images in this post.

I just read online to my shock that while Devas (divine beings or gods of the natural world) are considered benevolent in Hinduism they are considered evil in Zoroastrianism. I hope my readers will not take my meaning of the word Deva in the Zoroastrian sense.

While it is true that the Devas lack the human sense of right and wrong, I feel that their duties have to do with the natural flow of creation, the burgeoning of the All that occurs through complete Awareness in the current moment … in the Now.

One might say that human codes of ethics such as may be found in Zoroastrianism and in Confucianism are approximations derived through the rational mind to prevent humankind from hindering the flowering forth of Divine creation.

Because of the rational filter, these codes understandably separate good from bad and hope to reinforce the former in humankind. Yet without rational thought the natural world unthinkingly and perfectly creates cycles of birth, life-sustaining energy, death, and rebirth. Though some be termed ‘good’ or ‘bad’, each spoke of the incarnational wheel is important to the cycle of incarnation.

I think of Devas as the great beings assigned by God to care for all aspects of His creation. My own notion is close to that in the esoteric literature, in which I gather Devas to be personifications of the forces that rule the natural world.
