INTRODUCTION

Dear Ones,

This video has a Raven Spokesman who is talking to me about rock throwing being less than de rigueur.

Then a Coyote family begins a nuanced discussion of local human behavior towards Coyotes … Do they EAT the Coyote people all up? [Gulp!] … Or do they KILL the Coyote people?

There is an edited Summary after the video …

SUMMARY OF THE VIDEO

MAIN PART OF VIDEO

Alice (repeating what Raven said): Don’t throw rock!

Raven: Not . Rock!

Alice: No rock throwing!

Raven: Not . Rock!

Raven: No rock!

Alice (repeating): No rock!

Alice to Readers: The Ravens want to get in on it.

Alice to Raven: What?

Raven: Don’t throw rock!

Alice to Readers: “Don’t throw rock!” Did you hear it? They [the Ravens] are way over there.

Alice (looking around): Wow! I see it now! Pans to houses behind her.

Alice to Raven: Ok, you’re no camera. You can go on the internet if you want. Want to say? [zooms to Raven on tree branch.] Ready? … Don’t be shy. Prompts: Don’t throw rock! Don’t throw rock.

[The response is eh …] Anyway, I am not sure what he thinks of the internet quite yet … She. Sorry!

Alice to Raven [in response to something said off camera]: What does that mean?

Raven: Not rock! No rock!

Father Coyote (begins talking before Raven stops talking): Oh, my. What is that all about? Why is that Raven Woman talking to the Raven people? Why would she-Alice-Clagett do that? Is she crazy?

Alice to Readers [re what Raven said}: That is the Raven Spokesman for the group of Ravens down the hill that were doing the Tok-Tok-Tok sound just now so that no one could know they were there. [This was on the video entitled “Why do the Ravens go Tok-Tok-Tok?”

Mother Coyote: Maybe she’s lonely. Father Coyote: Jesus Christ, what? Listen to me.

Alice, continuing conversation to Readers: And I went past the Ravens, and then what went past me was many little schoolchildren.

Mother Coyote: Maybe she’s lonely.

Father Coyote: Jesus Christ, what? Listen to me.

Alice, continuing conversation to Readers: Then I went past, and what went past me was many little schoolchildren … very young, I think, before first grade … and two teachers.

Father Coyote: Don’t talk to her about schoolchildren.

Young Coyote: Why not?

Father Coyote (amused): What do you mean, ‘Why not’?

Alice, continuing conversation to Readers: I was walking along, and then I heard …

Young Coyote: Why not?

Father Coyote: They might eat you all up.

Alice, continuing conversation to Readers: … all of a sudden, the Ravens that had been going Tok-Tok-Tok …

Young Coyote: Are you pretending?

Father Coyote: No, I’m not at all.

Alice, continuing conversation to Readers: … they [the Ravens] said, “Out, out, out!”

Mother Coyote: I never HEARD about that.

Father Coyote: They might not be EAT-ing people but they are KILL-ing people.

Raven [repeating what Alice said]: Out, out, out!

Alice to Readers: I can’t figure it out the first time.

Mother Coyote (speaking almost in a monotone): There might be a difference between Killing us and Eating us, Dear Heart …

Alice to Readers: But ..

Alice to Raven: Sorry, I can’t figure it out. I am so silly. So sorry.

Father Coyote (speaking a little more lively): Yes, that really might be true. I’m sorry that I said she might be Eating up our people and not Killing all these Coyote people.

Alice: Anyway …

Raven: Wha-a-at?

Alice to Readers and to Raven: Anyway, what happened was the Ravens were saying mildly sternly (moderately sternly): “Don’t throw rock! DON’T throw rock!” They were talking to the little children.

Father Coyote: Will that be the way to say it then?

Mother Coyote: Yes, it will.

Young Coyote: Thank you for explaining what you meant by ‘eating people’. I enjoyed that conversation very much.

Alice to Readers and to Raven (continuing): And so, they were talking to the little children. And I thought, “Oh, no! Another rock-throwing incident” … because before … on the other side of this place … This is Victory Trailhead, and on the other side [points up the trail] is El Escorpion Trail … there had been that …

Father Coyote to Young Coyote: Yes, I got that you loved that conversation.

Alice to Readers and to Raven (continuing): … that unfortunate incident with the children who really upset the Ravens by throwing rocks at them. And then the Ravens …

Young Coyote: I Did really love that conversation. I loved that conversation.

Alice to Readers and to Raven (continuing): … the Ravens were angry at everybody. And then they kind of socked me on the head with their wings!

Raven (chuckling good-naturedly): Not . That . Hard!

Alice to Readers and to Raven (continuing): It didn’t hurt me. They were just warning me to go away because they were so upset about the rudeness that was going on from the visiting humans.

Raven (razzmatazzing me good-naturedly): Not . Hard!

Alice to Readers: After all, this is their home. And we have our houses … And so then someone took those Ravens away to another place and left their mother over their near El Escorpion Trail. She kept sailing over the thermals by the Cave of Munitz for awhile. Then I did not see her anymore.

I just hope nothing like that happens again, because we are not thoughtful about how we treat the animals.

So I am asking all of you: If you see an animal … just because you see an animal does not mean you have to hurt it, or throw a rock at it, or try to shoot it, or anything like that.

You can just enjoy that animal, there in the wilderness area, time after time, you know? … if we are not mean to it.

God bless you all,
And keep you safe,
And be with you
Through all your days.

In love, light and joy
This is Alice B. Clagett.
I Am of the Stars … and so are you!

POSTSCRIPT

Alice to Raven: Hey, Raven!

Raven to Alice: Talk. Talk. Talk!

Alice to Raven: I hear you! Good Raven. Strong Raven! Good Raven.

Raven: Not that belly-whacking strong!

Father Coyote: I will Eat you Up!

Raven: Oh, no. Not that!

Father Coyote (laughing, somewhat menacing): YOU fly away!

NOTES: In this video there is a big but almost inaudible discussion going on here among Father Coyote, Mother Coyote, and Young Coyote.

Father Coyote speaks in a measured, low voice.

When he talks to Young Coyote sometimes his voice sounds amused.

When he talks to Raven his voice sounds intimidating.

Young Coyote speaks in a spritely, higher, respectful voice.

The Coyotes’ voices are so low that this is almost like a psychic imprint.
