INTRODUCTION

Dear Ones,

There are two videos in this post.

The first video is “Raven Parley.” In that video, Ravens debate what to do to prevent Hawks from paying them an unwanted visit.

The second video is entitled, “Hummingbird, Raven, and Alice’s Human Speech at Various Speeds.” This video is excerpted from the first video and played at normal, low, and high speeds.

In this second video at slow speed you can descry the Hummingbird’s words. The Raven and Human voices at low speed may represent how the Hummingbird hears the voices of Ravens and Humans.

The fast speed at the end of the second video may represent how mountain lions hear Hummingbird, Raven, and Human speech.

Alice to Ravens: Yeah! What do you think?

Raven 1 to other Ravens: [She] talk to me about what Detente means.

Alice to Raven 1 (continuing): … you decide to stop being mean to me … and I try to explain … and we feel better.

Raven 1: Hah! I got what Detente means.

Raven 1 to Alice: Don’t talk to Ravens about Sweet Birds when Hawk is there.

Alice to Raven 1: Flies-Like-the-Wind Bird!

Coyote to Raven 1: You ought to explain. [Note how Coyote enunciates less
clearly. His voice is muffled, low, and within a narrow range.]
