The Story

Peacock makes this eerie call: Eeeiu eeeiu eeeiu eeeiu!

Alice: Uh oh!

Hello, Dear Ones. It’s Alice. I Am of the Stars.

I am trying to teach the peacocks to say “I love you.” Let’s see what lies in store.

Alice: I LOVE you!

Peacock: Caw cara-ay!

Alice: I LOVE you! I LOVE you! [no response] I guess peacocks don’t like that very much, but songbirds do.

Rooster: Er-er-er-ooo!

Alice: I heard that!

Alice: I LOVE you!

Rooster: U-u-U-uuuu!

Alice: Good work!

Rooster: U-u-U-uuuu!

Rooster: U-u-U-uuuu!

Alice: The rooster is starting to say: I LOVE you!

And the man in the house said: I LOVE you.

Alice: And I was talking to those peacocks …

Rooster: Er-er-er-ooo!

Alice: Er-er-er-ooo! Good work! … I was talking to thos …

Rooster: Er-er-er-ooo!

Alice: Wow! … Nice rooster! I was talking to the peacocks and they said: We won’t say that. We don’t say that. But you can say that. They [the peacocks] don’t want to do it though. They are serious about it.

Alice to Songbirds: What do you say?

Rooster: Er-er-er-ooo!

Songbird: We think that it’s nice that you are learning to speak to  the peacocks.

Alice: What?!

Songbird: Ehhh …

Another Songbird: Right!

Alice: Well, I was unsuccessful with those peacocks, but I’m sure it is just a question of getting used to the idea.

Analysis

About the Peacocks. Ok, so, I found out that call they [the peacocks] do … U-u-U-uuuu! … that is their name. It is a very hard name to pronounce too. They are an elite sort of bird … Well, they won’t change their name, I guess.

More About the Peacocks. So I was just about to get into my car after the peacock encounter; and it seems that the gentleman farmer who was saying those special words … he was their owner, you know; he and his wife fed them … he must have asked the peacocks to say “I love you.” And then I heard one of the peacocks say: Aww. I WONT. I WONT. I WONT. [laughs] Go figure!

What the Peacocks Said to the Gentleman Farmer. I was driving along, and I heard the gentleman farmer say he asked the peacock: Why not? And the peacock said: I’m too big to say things like that.

Well that is an interesting thing for the peacock to say. It seems that the large birds feel it is inappropriate for them to say that, but the very small birds … like the Songbirds … say it all the time.

The Nanday parakeets say it all the time. Of course, they are smallish.

It is a question whether parrots say that, or whether they do not … because they are larger.

Then we have the dolphins and whales; they say that; but dolphins and whales are right large compared to peacocks …

I don’t know! … Good question, yes? Peacocks are not predators, right? They are foragers. So it is not a predator thing … Good question.
