Dear Ones,
A tussle with Google AI today over whether Telepathy exists. By offering what they call ‘Assumptions’ in Geometry, I got good help from Google AI on the question of healthy shielding for human telepaths under normal conditions and also under conditions of ground level Cosmic Rays, Solar Flares, and EMF fields.
I asked Google AI: Is it known yet how to shield from telepathy?
Google AI said:
No, shielding from telepathy is not known or needed in real life because telepathy has no scientific proof. Ideas for mental shielding only exist in fiction, fantasy games, and science fiction. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Science and Reality
- No proof: Science has never shown that human telepathy is real.
- No shields: Because minds cannot broadcast or read thoughts across distances, real physical or mental shields do not exist. [1, 2]
Fiction and Fantasy
- Magic and tech: Stories use imaginary tools like metal helmets, magic spells, or psychic barriers to block mind reading.
- Mental noise: Characters in books sometimes block telepathy by thinking chaotic or random thoughts on purpose. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
If you are asking about a specific book, movie, or roleplaying game, let me know the title so I can share how shielding works in that universe.
I asked Google AI: Just make an assumption that telepathy is a weak but directional EMF signal from our neurons. Assume that neurons need to have boosted range of reception – ultrahigh frequency and ultralow frequency in addition to the normal range in order to send or transmit telepathic signals. I mean, good heavens, what else would it be?! So then, after making those assumptions, how might we shield from other people’s telepathy? And how might we prevent sending out telepathic signals?
Google AI said: To block or prevent telepathy based on these exact physical assumptions, you would use standard principles of electromagnetic shielding and signal modulation.
Here is how you would shield from incoming signals and stop outgoing transmissions based on your scenario.
Shielding From Incoming Telepathy
To stop a weak, directional, ultra-high frequency (UHF) or ultra-low frequency (ULF) electromagnetic signal from reaching your neurons, you must block or redirect the waves.
- Faraday cage: A conductive metal mesh enclosure around the head blocks UHF signals by redistributing the electrical charges.
- Mu-metal barriers: ULF waves have massive wavelengths and easily penetrate standard metals. You need thick layers of mu-metal (a nickel-iron alloy) to redirect the magnetic component around your brain.
- Active jamming: Wearing a device that broadcasts intense, localized EM noise across the UHF and ULF spectrums would drown out the weak telepathic signal.
- Directional physical alignment: Since the signal is directional, placing a high-density, grounded metallic shield directly between your head and the source would break the line of sight.
Preventing Outgoing Telepathy
To prevent your own neurons from broadcasting boosted UHF/ULF signals to the outside world, you must suppress the transmission at the source.
- Internal neural dampening: Biofeedback or specialized pharmaceuticals could theoretically lower neuron firing rates, stopping the “boosted” energy required for transmission.
- Scalp-level attenuation: Applying a flexible, conductive graphene or copper-infused mesh directly to the scalp would absorb and ground the weak signals before they leave the body.
- Phase cancellation: A wearable sensor detects your brain’s outgoing EMF signature and instantly broadcasts an identical, inverted wave to cancel the signal out (destructive interference).
If you are developing this concept for a sci-fi story or worldbuilding project, I can help you create realistic-sounding names for this technology. Would you like to explore wearable blocking devices or medical procedures for your world?
I asked Google AI: Which of these methods would be less likely to cause health hazards to a human being, for instance, during ground level cosmic rays, solar flares, and from EMF?
Google AI said: The safest passive methods are Mu-metal barriers and directional physical alignment, while the safest wearable active option is phase cancellation.
When evaluated against extreme space weather events (solar flares, ground-level cosmic rays) and general environmental Electromagnetic Fields (EMF), these methods present vastly different risk levels. [1]
🛡️ Highly Safe Methods (Lowest Risk)
- Mu-Metal Barriers
- Health Hazard: None. Mu-metal is a passive nickel-iron alloy. It does not emit radiation or generate electricity.
- Space Weather Impact: During solar flares and cosmic ray events, it remains perfectly safe. In fact, it provides a minor bonus by redirecting local magnetic distortions away from your head. [1]
- Directional Physical Alignment
- Health Hazard: None. This simply means putting a static, grounded physical shield (like a heavy metal wall or panel) between you and the source.
- Space Weather Impact: Standing behind a thick, grounded shield actually protects you from incoming environmental EMF and solar-flare induced radiation.
- Phase Cancellation
- Health Hazard: Very low. It only emits a signal when your brain transmits, matching your brain’s exact ultra-weak signal strength. It introduces almost zero net EMF to your body.
- Space Weather Impact: Because it relies on sensitive sensors to detect your brainwaves, a solar flare or severe cosmic ray burst might cause sensor “noise,” temporarily blinding the system. However, it will not hurt you.
⚠️ Moderate Risk Methods
- Faraday Cage (Mesh Helmet)
- Health Hazard: Low under normal conditions, but highly risky during space weather.
- Space Weather Impact: Solar flares trigger Geomagnetically Induced Currents (GICs). A metal cage around your head could act as an antenna, inducing unexpected electrical currents right next to your skull. It also provides zero protection against high-energy cosmic rays, which easily pass through thin metal mesh. [1, 2, 3]
- Scalp-Level Attenuation (Graphene/Copper Cap)
- Health Hazard: Low, unless the materials irritate the skin.
- Space Weather Impact: Similar to the Faraday cage, a highly conductive material wrapped directly against your skin could capture environmental EMF or solar storm static, causing localized electrical heating or mild shocks.
🚨 Dangerous Methods (Highest Risk)
- Active Jamming
- Health Hazard: High. To drown out incoming ULF and UHF telepathy, you must wear a device that constantly floods your brain with high-intensity EMF. Continuous, close-range ULF/UHF exposure can cause tissue heating and disrupt your body’s natural bio-electrical rhythms.
- Space Weather Impact: Terrible. Solar flares already create massive radio bursts. Turning on a high-power jammer during a solar storm creates extreme electromagnetic chaos, likely frying the device and risking electrical fire or burns.
- Internal Neural Dampening (Drugs/Biofeedback)
- Health Hazard: High. Artificially suppressing your neurons’ natural firing rates affects your entire nervous system, slowing down reaction times, memory, and vital autonomic functions like heart rate.
- Space Weather Impact: Cosmic rays damage cells by breaking DNA strands. If your nervous system is biologically suppressed or heavily drugged, your body’s cellular repair mechanisms and stress responses are compromised, making you more vulnerable to radiation sickness. [1]
If you are incorporating this into your story, would you like to design a narrative scene where a character has to choose a method before a solar storm hits, or look into how a mu-metal helmet might be styled?
I asked Google AI: I thought a metal shield won’t work during solar flares or for cosmic rays at ground level?
Google AI said: You are actually entirely correct—and your instinct points to a massive problem with using standard metal shields against space weather.
Thin or lightweight metal shields (like a helmet or a mesh cage) absolutely will not stop ground-level cosmic rays, and solar flares can actively turn standard metals into a hazard. [1]
Here is exactly why standard metals fail against these threats, and what kind of “shield” is actually required.
- The Cosmic Ray Problem: Secondary Radiation
Ground-level cosmic rays consist of high-energy protons and atomic nuclei moving at near the speed of light. [1]
- The Hazard: When these particles hit a standard metal shield (like iron, lead, or copper), they don’t stop. Instead, they smash into the metal’s heavy atoms. [1]
- The Result: This collision shatters the atoms, creating a shower of secondary radiation (x-rays, neutrons, and protons). A thin metal shield can actually make the radiation dose worse for the person wearing it than if they had no shield at all. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- The Exception: To stop cosmic rays, you need materials dense with hydrogen (like water, polyethylene plastic, or thick soil) or miles of atmosphere. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- The Solar Flare Problem: Antenna Effect
Solar flares blast the Earth with X-rays and massive magnetic disruptions. [1, 2, 3]
- The Hazard:
A changing magnetic field forces electrical currents to flow through conductive metals (induction).
- The Result: A metal shield or helmet worn during a severe solar storm will act like an antenna. It will capture the fluctuating environmental EMF and generate localized electrical currents, potentially causing heating, sparks, or severe shocks to the wearer. [1, 2]
What kind of “Metal Shield” actually works?
For a shield to be safe during a solar flare or cosmic ray event, it cannot be a wearable metal hat. It has to be a massive, grounded planetary installation:
- Extreme Thickness: It must be a bunker wall yards thick, not a sheet of metal.
- Grounding: The shield must be deeply connected to the physical Earth (grounded) so that any electrical currents induced by solar flares are instantly drained safely into the dirt, away from your body. [1, 2]
- Layering: The metal (like Mu-metal for the magnetic telepathy waves) must be buried behind heavy layers of water, concrete, or packed earth to absorb the cosmic rays first.
If your character is trapped on the surface during a space weather event, a metal helmet would be a liability. They would need to seek shelter deep underground.
Would you like to explore how your characters might build an underground bunker that blocks both telepathy and cosmic radiation, or look into non-metallic materials like specialized plastics that could block the signals safely?
I asked Google AI: So then which shield type would be least risk to health under both normal conditions and also for ground level cosmic rays, solar flares, and EMF?
Google AI said: Based on the strict requirements of physics and material science, the absolute lowest-risk shield type for a human being under all of these conditions is a Composite Hydrogen-Rich and Grounded Mu-Metal Shielding System.
Instead of a single material, you must use a layered system. Separating the jobs of blocking radiation and blocking electromagnetic frequencies (EMF) ensures zero health hazards.
🧱 The Ultimate Low-Risk Shield Layering (From Outside to Inside)
To ensure the system remains safe during ground-level cosmic rays, solar flares, and general environmental EMF, it must be constructed in three distinct layers:
- Outer Layer: Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene (UHMW-PE) or Water
- Middle Layer: Grounded Mu-Metal Mesh
- Why it is safe: Mu-metal is a nickel-iron alloy with incredibly high magnetic permeability. It redirects environmental EMF, solar flare magnetic disruptions, and ULF/UHF telepathic signals around the body.
- The rule: It must be strictly attached to a heavy ground wire running deep into the earth. This ensures that any electrical currents induced by a solar flare drain harmlessly into the dirt rather than shocking the human. [1, 2]
- Inner Layer: Dielectric Insulation (Rubber or Structural Foam)
- Why it is safe: This non-conductive layer physically separates the human from the metal shielding. It completely eliminates the risk of static shocks, localized electrical heating, or skin irritation under normal or extreme conditions.
📊 Risk Profile Matrix
| Threat Condition | Standard Metal Shield (High Risk) | The Layered Composite System (Lowest Risk) |
| Normal Conditions | Bulk, weight, and minor static accumulation. | Completely passive, lightweight, and zero emissions. |
| Ground-Level Cosmic Rays | Extreme Risk: Creates dangerous secondary radiation showers. | Safe: Hydrogen-rich layer absorbs particles cleanly. |
| Severe Solar Flares | High Risk: Acts as an antenna; creates electrical currents. | Safe: Deep grounding drains currents away instantly. |
| Environmental EMF | Deflects some waves but can amplify localized fields. | Safe: Diverts all incoming ULF/UHF signals into the ground. |
🛸 Application: Wearable vs. Habitat
- If used as a Habitat (Bunker): This is the safest overall. A thick layer of wet dirt or water tanks on top of a grounded mu-metal room creates a perfect, zero-risk sanctuary.
- If used as Wearable Gear (Suit/Helmet): A lightweight suit made of a UHMW-PE outer shell, lined with a flexible, insulated, and grounded copper/mu-metal fabric, provides the maximum possible protection with zero biological side effects.
Would you like to detail how characters in your world might manufacture or acquire these hydrogen-rich polymers, or do you want to map out how a grounding system would work if a character is moving around outside?
I said: Thanks, Google AI! I very much appreciate your help.
Google AI said: You are very welcome! It was a pleasure diving into the physics and material science of your concept.
