Here is a conversation I had with an Owl at Paramount Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains.

What a cool video!

At 2:17 and following the young Owl seems to be saying … in click language, like Ravens sometimes use, but in the Owl’s case in a monotone: I do not like that type of … of stuff.

At 4:29 and following the Owl seems to be clicking: Get back! Get back! Get back! … Then: Do not pick me up do not pick me up!

At 4:32, clicking: Yep. I AM that way.

“Conversation with an Owl”

IF YOU TURN YOUR AUDIO TO HIGH you can hear the animals talking.

Hello, Dear Ones. It’s Alice. I Am of the Stars, and I’m here at Paramount Ranch today.

I started to hear the voice of an Owl and I’ve come to recognize Owls. They have a kind of a soft muttering or mumbling tone and it’s easy to miss them and it’s really easy to believe  that they’re not Owls …

Owl [in a soft low tone]: No, it is NOT easy to miss me at all!

Alice (continuing): … because they don’t sound like the very imperious beings that

Owls really are. And so I said, “Is that an Owl?”

And this being that was muttering softly said, “No, this is not an Owl.” I said, “I
think it is an Owl.”

And the being said, “All right, I am an Owl, but the people say that I’m …

Nanday: “Nanday said ‘endangered’!”

Alice (continuing with what the Owl had said): … endangered. The people say that I’m  endangered. That’s why I say I’m not an Owl.”

Nanday: That’s NOT it. Nanday said that they are not endangered … that they are not … that they are NOT endangered!

Alice to Nandays: What is it?

Nanday: RIGHT! They are NOT endangered! Those Owls are NOT endangered! THEY are not endangered!

Alice to Readers: Nandays are saying that’s not an Owl.

Alice to Nanday: It’s a nitwit?! What a thing to say! Is it a Groundhog? A Groundhog?

Raven: That’s NOT it!

Nanday: That’s not what NAN-day said!

Groundhog [in a soft good-natured mammalian voice]: My GOOD-ness. She’s a NIT-wit!”

Nanday: That Woman is a NITWIT! And by the way, that’s not what NAN-days say!

Alice to Nanday: A Groundhog!

Nanday: Yep! It’s a Groundhog. Groundhogs say that she’s a nitwit.

Alice to Readers: That’s what Groundhogs said about it.

The Nandays … who might also be prevaricating, I can’t tell … say, “This is a nitwit, not an Owl. This is a Groundhog, not an Owl.”

Raven: HE . DID . NOT . SAY . THAT!

And the Raven just said, “It’s not a Groundhog.”

Let’s just go with this  original story. What do you say? So, I was talking to what I presume to be an Owl.

And I said, “You know, it’s not really that you’re endangered, because you’re large and fierce. You’re an Apex Predator. Yeah, Apex Predator!”

Unknown Being: What?!

Alice to Readers: Apex Predator! And that was a Nanday flying overhead. Alice (continuing with what she said to the Owl): “And so all the beings are afraid of you.”

Groundhog [in a low, huffing, amused voice; Groundhog is quite the diplomat]: That was the Mountain Lion. That was what it was. That was the Mountain Lion over there that she was talking about.

Alice to Readers (talking about what she said to Owl): “… They’re endangered. You’re not endangered. And so you don’t need to say that you’re not an Owl.”

Alice to Nanday: It’s a Nanday! A Nanday pretending to be an Owl.
I’m going to put this conversation on hold for the time being.
