In a world bereft of Light, find thou the Eternal flame!
Than life, than breath, than flying fleet of foot,
Than greeting nature’s child,
Than being wisdom bound;
Than knowing this from that,
Even than knowing thine own name,
Better by far this precept of thy gentle birth —
This banner that proclaims thy fathers’ fame:
Take thou the hero’s stance!
Guard thou the Eternal flame.
