“Argentine Ants: Your Front Door May Be Their Key Entry Point from the Wall Cavity to Your Living Space”

Hello, Dear Ones. It’s Alice. I Am of the Stars. I have a tip for you regarding fighting Argentine Ants and their incursion into your home. You may know that they try to get from the crawl space or the attic through the space between the outside wall and the inside walls of your house into your living area in order to invade.
Okay? So, the question is how to prevent that from happening. And I had a major breakthrough today.
Step 1: Door Jamb and Side Jambs
I was looking at my front door, right? And I noticed … let me show you. My front door had on it weatherstripping all around the frame. I opened the door and the inside was like this. It went all the way up around the top and around the side. I took off all of the weatherstripping and I found a crack that ran all the way around the door up here and down … a big crack that gets into the space between the outside wall of the house and the inner walls of the house. I hear this space is called the ‘wall cavity’.
So, by going through that crack, the Ants can get into your house.
So, the question is to use Loctite PL Premium Max through here.
Take off all of the weatherstripping and add that all the way through here, all the way down. And I’ll show you at the bottom here.
I haven’t quite finished it off. And you can see where the crack is in the wall. There’s a crack that runs right along here. Sometimes it’s wide and sometimes it’s not wide. And that’s the crack that needs to be filled up in order to make your front door Argentine Ant-proof.
Step 2: Bolt Holes in Door Frame.
As you can see, there are also bolt holes in the frame of the front door through which the deadbolt enters to secure the door. And inside of those bolt holes, there may also be access to the wall cavity.
You see that the bolt hole goes in farther than it needs to. So, what I thought I would do is plug up that extra space that may lead into the wall cavity.
So, I bought some JB Weld KwikWood and I thought I would stuff that into the bolt hole. Then, I thought I would use this dowel to figure out how far the bolt needs to penetrate the bolt hole.
So about that far, right? And then I could put this dowel into the bolt hole to the depth of the mark here. And that would leave room for the bolt to enter after the KwikWood is put in.
