There is a mild (Kp=5) geostorm in progress. That is ratcheting down from the moderate (Kp=6) geostorm that was taking place about three hours ago.
The geostorm caught almost everyone by surprise, except for space weather physicist Dr. Tamitha Skov, who has a certain sympathy for our Sun so far (to my knowledge) unrivaled by any other human being (although she would like speak more modestly of this) …
