I asked Google AI: What are the Illuminati?

In the Bavarian context, the Illuminati were similar to the Oriental mythical undying ones, the Immortals. Like the Bavarian Illuminati, the Immortals are touted for their strict study of martial and psychic arts, and for their intention to uplift Humankind through the example of their lives and also through use of their martial and psychic abilities.

Today the term Illuminati has a negative connotation. In conspiracy theory literature the word is similar in meaning to the words ‘controller‘ and ‘puppeteer‘. That is the idea that a secret, select, extraordinarily wealthy men might be ‘calling the shots’ financially, economically, and governmentally all over Earth.
