Dear Ones,
Some years ago I found myself in a town where ‘swinging couples’ was an acceptable pastime in many social contexts. As a single person, I found I did not fit in. Consequently I had plenty of time to consider the whys and wherefores of this practice, which I had not priorly encountered.
At first I thought it might be a Mormon practice, carried over from a nearby mostly Mormon state. I do not know that much about the Mormons, or whether that could be true or not.
Today I came up with a fun alternative theory: I wonder if couples that walk the Polka ‘mixer dance’ … in which dance partners frequently change … might develop a light-hearted, fun approach to the notion of ‘swinging couples’? That might account for it.

Then I began to wonder if dancing the Tango might lead to fidelity … and perhaps jealousy? …

Maybe the type of dancing we enjoy means a lot more than meets the eye? Could it be that by switching to a new way of dancing we might make subconscious changes in our attitude toward romance?
