Dear Ones,

I went to a meditation last night, and the leaders quoted a verse from the Bible that I liked very much. I looked up the context …

MATTHEW 8:18-20, 23-27

18 “Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

19 “And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

20 “And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.” –Matthew 8:18-20 (KJV, public domain)

This morning I woke up with the weight of the world on my shoulders — or to put it more aptly, the weight of the world in my head. A few minutes after I transferred my Awareness from my head to my heart, though, my cat and I started having a very nice day.

Well, maybe that is what Jesus meant … there was a crowd of people around him, most likely causing a commotion … he was a peaceful guy; he needed a little rest … but their heads would not let his heart rest. So now, continuing with the Bible …

23 “And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

24 “And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

25 “And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

26 “And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

27 “But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!” –Matthew 8:23-27 (KJV, public domain)

THE WEATHER EFFECT OF MENTAL COMMOTION

You know, this mental commotion we all feel from time to time … the product of the untamed mind … takes its toll on the natural world. It is quite likely that storm came up because the people on the shore weren’t dealing too well with Christ’s departure.

MASS MEDIA AND EXTREME WEATHER

We are still creating this same weather effect today. By my lights, were Hollywood to begin producing upbeat, happy movies today … and were the nightly news to concentrate wholeheartedly on good news rather than bad news … or were we all to stop going to the movies and stop listening to the news … all this extreme weather would clear up within a week.

HEART ENERGY AND CALM WEATHER

Earth does not respond well to our upsets. Do not get me wrong … she does the best she can … but our fear and anger and negativity give her the weather flu. On the other hand, she blooms with peace and beauty when our hearts open wide. Which appears to be what happened when the disciples woke Christ … his faith in the Fatherly nature of God was so strong, his heart so open, that all he had to do was ask, and the extreme weather stopped, just like that!

We can calm the stormy seas of our lives too! If we just transfer our Awareness from our justifiably fearful minds to our timeless, loving hearts.

In love, light and joy,
I Am of the Stars
