In the Christian tradition, we have our guardian angels and archangels, who are beings of purest good and Light placed in this realm as our protectors …

Archangels can be envisioned in both masculine and feminine aspect (being in essence neither), and as protecting both men and women. Here is Archangel Michael portrayed in masculine aspect. In essence, they are formless Light which they may alter to present as a male or female image so that they may be discerned by a person with whom they hope to communicate.
