COMMENTS: Taking into consideration that the form we know as human includes within its physical and subtle bodies representatives of the planet Mars and representatives of the planet Venus, as well we humans ourselves, who are Earthlings, we might consider that the human form is a sort of interplanetary peace mission for our Solar System … a marriage of planets, as it were.
The third-dimensional Martians within us, who designed our physical bodies (being, as they are, marvelous at genetic engineering), live in our colons in a miniaturized form we humans call ‘bacteria’.
The fifth-dimensional Hathors of the planet Venus surge as forces of Light, love, and joy, through our heart chakras, vitalizing our bodies of Light with ever-new regenerative energy (as do the vitality globules in beams of Light from our Sun, which fill up our Pranic Reserves with sustaining life force).
Thus, this painting may be seen to represent the marriage of two planets … Mars and Venus, which are so very different in cultures and traditions … here on planet Earth, in these, the physical earthly forms of us human beings. It is the sex drive … represented by the Satyr … that brings these two together, through the joyful harmony that the act of human sexual expression brings to our 15 trillion human body cells. It is the love of self and other that we feel in fulfilling the need for human sexual expression … represented by the two Cupids … that creates a lasting interplanetary alliance within the human form here on Earth. –Alice B. Here I am on the Mishe Mokwa trail. I have to say the situation is a little different from the way it was in former years.
For one thing, I am wearing my mountaineering shell due to the fact that it is right cold this afternoon.
For another thing, there are some places on the trail that are rougher than I remember.
[Shows a rock scramble on the trail.] Here is a rock climb that I don’t remember. This is one instance. At this point, the terrain downhill looks rather gradual, so I think the rock scramble presents no problems. I will go on up there.
This is like several of the makeshift areas in the trail. I think they are there because of the rains. There have been mudslides and landslides in prior years. A path has been carved out past these obstacles, but it is not the prior path. It is a bit more rugged.
. . . . .
We are coming up to another rock slide on the trail. I will need to pick my way up over the rocks here. See the rocks right in the middle of the road? … Here it is, up close. The rocks are almost like steps up to a bigger rock in the trail.
Behind me there is a view of a gorge and the mountains beyond.
There are a few more steps to take on the rocks in the trail. Then there is an intersection with another trail. That is not Mishe Mokwa trail, the path that I am on today, and which goes down to a picnic table after you cross a creek.
There is a sign that says: Backbone Trail.
Yerba Buena Road .4 miles. [straight ahead]
Sandstone Peak Trail .2 miles. [to the right]
This is a sign for a cutoff that goes from the Mishe Mokwa Trail to the Backbone Trail and Yerba Buena Road and Sandstone Peak.
[pans to descent on left] From the Mishe Mokwa parking lot way down this way … see Yerba Buena Road where you park, down there? … you can take the trail up this way [to where I am standing], then at this Backbone Trail sign you can turn left and go way up the mountain to Sandstone Peak.
Continuing on and veering to the right as you pass on the lefthand side the trail to Tri-Peaks, you will continue on to Split Rock. , and then you can come back to your car via Mishe Mokwa Trail …
That way you can hike a strenuous ‘lollipop’ loop. It is best to do this along with hiking companions in case of mischief along the way. That way you can help each other out as need arises.
From where I stand right now, at this junction, the Mishe Mokwa path down to the parking lot is right smooth sailing.

“I come from Salem City with my washbowl on my knee. “I’m going to California, the gold dust for to see.
“Oh, California, that’s the land for me.
“I’m bound for San Francisco with my washbowl on my knee.
“It rained all night the day I left. The weather it was dry.
“The sun so hot I froze to death. O brothers, don’t you cry.
“Oh, California, that’s the land for me.
“I’m bound for San Francisco with my washbowl on my knee.”
Skeezix! Look at this impediment to my hike. [Shows mountain stream raging across the hiking trail.]
“I jumped on board the Liza ship, and traveled o’er the sea …”
The current is a little too strong …
“And every time I thought of home …”
… for a safe crossing, I think. The current could carry you right down over that small falls there.” [Shows small waterfall.]
“… I wished it wasn’t me.
“Oh, California, that’s the land for me.
“I’m bound for San Francisco with my washbowl on my knee.”
Sometimes … most of the time … it is just a little trickle here. I don’t know; I guess I had better give up.
“The vessel reared like any horse that had of oats a wealth. “I thought it wouldn’t throw me, so I thought I’d throw myself.
“Oh, California, that’s the land for me.
“I’m bound for San Francisco with my washbowl on my knee.”
If you look closely you can see, looks like, little flakes of gold in the dark sand here. I didn’t see any gold nuggets, though. Just tiny little flakes of gold, it looks like … maybe fool’s gold. I put some on my hand, and I can see it shining.
“I thought of all the pleasant times we had together, dear. “I thought I ought to cry a bit, but couldn’t find a tear.
“Oh, California, that’s the land for me.
“I’m bound for San Francisco with my washbowl on my knee.”
Does anybody know what gold nuggets look like in the raw? Are they golden colored? Maybe they’re black. I don’t know what color they are. I don’t know what to look for.
“The pilot bread was in my mouth; the gold dust in my eye …”
Once in awhile I see something a little more substantial, but still really tiny. I think it is just the light. For instance, the light was shining on this one right here [shows tiny pebble] just a minute ago, and it was really, really shiny. Now it’s not.”
“… And though I’m going far away, dear brothers don’t you cry.
“Oh, California, that’s the land for me.
“I’m bound for San Francisco with my washbowl on my knee.”
[Looking at a rock …] No, not gold; just kind of golden in color.
. . . . .
Well, I’m searching for gold nuggets here. I figured that would make the bank happy. But unfortunately I’m seeing a lot of rocks, and no gold nuggets.
O dear, it’s a delta that I’m standing on [shows delta with two streams converging in front of it] . I guess this is the end of the road.
. . . . .
I ran into some quicksand over there … {Shows where.]
“I soon shall be in ‘Frisco, and there I’ll look around. “And when I see the gold lumps, I’ll pick them off the ground.
“Oh, California, that’s the land for me …
… but I was too quick for it.
“… I’m bound for San Francisco with my washbowl on my knee.”
[testing for quicksand with my hiking staff] Doesn’t look so good there … just a feeling. Call it a wild feeling.
[staff sinks into the sand] Whoops! Uh oh! … I’m looking for some terra firma here so that I can get over to the safe place …
I don’t know; it looks like quicksand to me. It definitely looks like quicksand, doesn’t it?
I don’t know … Yeah; quicksand … quicksand … quicksand … quicksand! Oh gosh, what should I do? Right, [I found] the safe way. [Goes that way.]
“I’ll scrape the mountains clean, my boys. I’ll drain the rivers dry; “A pocket full of rocks bring home. So brothers, don’t you cry.”
. . . . .
Well, what an adventure. It looked like I was seeing gold flakes; and so I was hoping to find some gold nuggets.
But I didn’t find any. And so then I started to go back, after I got to the delta and could go no farther along that gravel spit.
And I ran into some quicksand. But fortunately I was able to climb over a pile of driftwood to get back to safety.
Well, it has been an interesting day, hasn’t it?
I am sorry I could not come up with something to make the bank happy, but sometimes days are just like that!
