Dear Ones,

Here is a short film of a red-eared slider (Trachemys scripta elegans). It was the only turtle I have ever seen on my Southern California rambles in the woods, and it was startlingly large: about 8 inches across by about 11 inches long.

It was right stand-offish, and most likely ancient and wise, I feel. If you run across it on your walks in the woods, please treat it nicely, as life in the wild, while granting wisdom, takes its toll on the slow-moving philosopher.
