Dear Ones,

INTRODUCTION

I have been searching for a while now for descriptions of the seven sub-planes of the Astral Plane. I have found some pretty good information in “The Astral Body and Other Astral Phenomena,” compiled by Arthur E. Powell, published 1927, Quest Book edition 1973, copyright The Theosophical Publishing House, London, Ltd. 1965.

However, this information is spread out, hither and yon, in the book. As this book is under copyright, I cannot quote snippets of text in the blog, out of legal concern. However, I will offer a little information from School of Theosophy sources that are in the public domain, along with page citations of copyrighted information that can be consulted by those who have copies of the book.

………

Another way to cover most of the material on the various sub-planes, would be to read …

At the end of the blog is an explanation of travel from one sub-plane to another, which is useful in an Ascension context, as the Awareness of humankind expands from the merely physical, out into the astral plane, and beyond, to the fifth dimension, the Kingdom of God, where Christed and Buddhic consciousness abide.

Now, on to the compilation on the seven astral planes, according to the School of Theosophy …

………………………………………………
THE SEVEN ASTRAL PLANES

“First of all, then, it must be understood that the astral plane has seven subdivisions, each of which has its corresponding degree of materiality and its corresponding condition of matter. Now numbering these from the highest and least material downwards, we find that they naturally fall into three classes, divisions 1, 2 and 3 forming one such class, and 4, 5 and 6 another, while the seventh and lowest of all stands alone.

“The difference between the matter of one of these classes and the next would be commensurable with that between a solid and a liquid, while the difference between the matter of the subdivisions of a class would rather resemble that between two kinds of solid, such as, say, steel and sand. Putting aside for the moment the seventh, we may say that divisions 4, 5 and 6 of the astral plane have for their background the physical world we live in and all its familiar accessories.

“Life on the sixth division is simply our ordinary life on this earth, minus the physical body and its necessities; while as it ascends through the fifth and fourth divisions it becomes less and less material, and is more and more withdrawn from our lower world and its interests.”

THE HIGHER ASTRAL SUB-PLANES

“The first, second, and third subdivisions seem much further removed from this physical world, and correspondingly less material. Entities inhabiting these levels lose sight of the earth and its belongings; they are usually deeply self-absorbed, and to a large extent create their own surroundings, though these are not purely subjective, as in Devachan [the Heaven Worlds], but on the contrary sufficiently objective to be perceptible to other entities and also to clairvoyant vision.

“This region is beyond doubt the ‘summerland’ of which we hear so much at spiritualistic séances, and the entities who descend from and describe it are probably often speaking the truth as far as their knowledge extends.

“It is on these planes that ‘spirits’ call into temporary existence their houses, schools, and cities, for these objects are often real enough for the time, though to a clearer sight they may sometimes be pitiably unlike what their delighted creators suppose them to be.

“Nevertheless, many of the imaginations that take form there are of real though temporary beauty, and a visitor who knew of nothing higher might wander contentedly enough there among forests and mountains, lovely lakes and pleasant flower-gardens, or might even construct such surroundings to suit his own fancies.”

TRAVEL AMONG THE ASTRAL SUB-PLANES

Here is an explanation of navigating among the various astral sub-planes that I found very interesting. Apparently this has to do with transforming one’s Awareness, rather than movement through space …

Ibid,, p 110, first full paragraph, beginning “When we …” ending “… upon him.”

This is useful in an Ascension context, as our Awareness is expanding outward from the Material Plane (that is, the plane of physical reality), into the Plane of Forces, from thence into the Astral Plane, and thence on into the fifth dimension, the Kingdom of God, where Christed and Buddhic consciousness abide.

According to the above excerpt, expansion of Awareness into the loftier astral realms depends on a person’s ability to change his astral rate of vibration. This is done, according to the teachings of today’s Ascension workers, through creation of loftier emotions, such as love, faith, trust, and joy. The ability to create emotions ‘on the spot’ is a new skill for us humans … it requires diligent practice. See …

Link: “Golden Triangle: Purifying the Third Eye Point,” by Alice B, Clagett, http://wp.me/p2Rkym-3nc ..

We must all ‘learn the ropes’ of the seven astral planes, whether those of the Hellworlds (sub-plane 7, the lowest astral sub-planes); the Purgatory Worlds (sub-planes 6 through 4; the intermediate astral sub-planes); and the Heaven Worlds (sub-planes 3 through 1, which heretofore were the very loftiest abodes of human consciousness).

Once we have this power of astral navigation at hand in our clair ‘tool belts’, it will be much easier to communicate with our Ascension team members in the higher dimensions, and to help those still learning astral navigation skills without getting mired down in ‘sticky wicket’ situations.

Another caveat: It is important to master timeline skills, in case we find ourselves in Hellworld situations that are difficult to pierce through. For this, see my blog category: Timelines – multitemporality – alternate universes – fractals

Dear Ones,

Here are references to teachings about the Afterlife from the School of Theosophy, along with comments by me to do with Ascension …

WHAT IS THE TRUTH ABOUT HEAVEN AND HELL?

The Theosophist William Walker Atkinson (aka Swami Panchadasi) describes how very different are the beliefs among the major religions of the world, regarding the afterlife. Some describe heaven, or hell, or purgatory, or limbo. Others speak of a great sleep, on passing, until the Day of Judgment at the end of the world …

Citation: “The Astral World: Its Scenes, Dwellers, and Phenomena,” by William Walker Atkinson, “Chapter VI. Disembodied Souls,”    … from the fifth full paragraph beginning “Let us move …” through the second sentence in the seventh paragraph, ending “… all the truth.”

Theosophists have a different, and I feel, in some instances, a far more hopeful and heart-settling set of teachings. They feel that Souls do sort, on the astral plane, after passing from physical form. But all Souls eventually slip into sleep in the Heaven Worlds of the Afterlife after their Astral Work in the Afterlife is done.

KAMALOKA: THE DESIRE WORLD OF THEOSOPHY

The Astral Work referred to here is that in which Souls, after passing on from physical incarnation, experience Kamaloka …  the ‘Desire World’ … as it is termed in the School of Theosophy. The work that is done is to purify the astral body, removing the dross of dissonant energies. This may take only a little time, or very much longer.

Grossness in the Astral Body. The type of experience a Soul has during this Astral interval depends on the relative grossness or refinement of its astral body … or as we say in an Ascension context, the distortions in its body of Light. These are referred to in Hindu texts as the samskaras, or by Judy Satori …  https://judysatori.com/ … as karmic miasmic patterning or morphogenetic field distortions.

Hell, Purgatory, and Limbo. In terms of the Christian faith, a person who has led a very sinful life on Earth, might well have experiences in Kamaloka that are like the Christian notion of Hell. A person who has led a reasonable life on Earth … though not particularly religious or spiritual … might experience what some Christian faiths term Purgatory. A child who passes on before the age of reason, or a person who has led a saintly or spiritual life, might experience only a little time in a state some Christian faiths term Limbo.

There is quite a good explanation of the astral afterlife, according to the School of Theosophy, here …

Citation: “The Astral Body and Other Astral Phenomena,” compiled by Arthur E. Powell, Theosophical Publishing House, Wheaton, IL. Copyright The Theosophical Publishing House, London, Ltd. 1965 … “Chapter XIII: After-Death Life: Principles,” pp. 112-119.

The following two chapters are also quite informative. These are “Chapter XIV: The After-Death Life: Particulars,” pp. 120-135, and “Chapter XV: The After-Death Life: Special Cases,” pp. 136-143.

Here is a brief overview of the Soul’s afterlife stay in Kamaloka, the Desire World …

Citation: “The Astral Body: And Other Astral Phenomena,” compiled by Arthur E. Powell, Theosophical Publishing House, Wheaton, IL. Copyright The Theosophical Publishing House, London, Ltd. 1965 … “Chapter XXIII. Astral Death,” p 204, from paragraph 1, beginning “We have now …” through paragraph 4, ending: ” heaven-world.”

DEVACHAN: THE HEAVEN WORLDS ON THE HIGHER MENTAL PLANE

When, during the astral interval, the astral body has been purified of impure feelings and desires, a residue of desire, or kama, is left behind in Kamaloka. The higher ego (the true ‘I’) becomes free to pass on to a very different form of afterlife experience …  that of the Heaven Worlds, which, in Theosophy, are termed Devachan.

The Theosophists feel that all Souls eventually rise from the Hellworlds, Purgatory Worlds, or Limbo they were experiencing on the Astral Plane, to Devachan, the Heaven Worlds. Theirs, then is a more hopeful notion than that professed by many major religions.

In Devachan, those who passed on with desires to accomplish creative work (such as to create a great piece of music) or to exist in a paradise, or to be in a congregation of Souls of their own religion, or to accomplish intellectual or scientific work, can live out their dreams, till their desires to do these things fades. In addition, the work these Souls do in Devachan can be carried forward with them into a new incarnation, and so may aid the development of humankind.

At times, too, disembodied Souls in Devachan may be may offer their creative work as a gift to aspiring creative artists on the physical plane … They become the ‘creative muses’ for these Earth-bound artists.

There is a good, brief summary of the Devachan experience, from the Theosophical perspective, here …

Citation: “The Astral World: Its Scenes, Dwellers, and Phenomena,” by William Walker Atkinson, published 20 January 2000 by Book Tree … “Chapter IX: Higher Planes and Beyond,” paragraph 11, beginning “I wish here …” through paragraph 13, ending “…follow the gleam!”

Here is a more detailed description of Devachan, from the Theosophical perspective …

Citation: “The Mental Body,” by Lieut.-Colonel Arthur E. Powell, The Theosophical Publishing House Limited, London, Great Britain, 1927 … “Chapter XX: Devachan: Principles,” pp 171-184.

These chapters in the same book are also well worth reading: “Chapter XXI: Devachan: Length and Intensity,” pp. 185-190, and “Chapter XXII: Devachan: Further Particulars,” pp. 191-205.

The four chapters following these … pp. 206-220 … describe the four lower levels (there are 7 in all) of the heaven planes. These are numbered ‘backwards’ … The first and lowest level is termed the ‘seventh sub-plane’. The second, which is a little higher, is termed the ‘sixth sub-plane’ … and so on.

Astral Passion and The Exercise of Will Power . by Alice B. Clagett

The one on the left looks like a very muscular man, with chains around his forearms, waist, and thighs. The one on the right looks like a woman, or maybe a samurai, with hair in a topknot, face darkly obscured, maybe six inches taller than the other person. It looks like there is a chess piece, possibly a living being, maybe 5 inches tall, in the air between them, at about the level of their calves.

Dear Ones,

According to the Theosophist Charles W. Leadbeater, “The astral world has many points in common with the physical; just like the physical, it presents different appearances to different people, and even to the same person at different periods of his career. It is the home of emotions and of lower thoughts; and emotions are much stronger in that world than in this.” –from “A Textbook of Theosophy,” by C. W. Leadbeater (2004). Urbana, Illinois: Project Gutenberg. Retrieved 24 August 2015, from http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/12902 ..

As we step into the Ascension process, the path to Christ consciousness, our Awareness begins to expand beyond the gross physical plane, and into the astral plane (and onward to the Christ consciousness plane, which some call the Fifth Dimension). Those of us who were previously unable to sense the raw and sometimes raging emotions (whether of rapture or of intense suffering) that are characteristic of the astral plane are now beginning to do so.

This passage, which describes how very intensely emotions are felt on the astral plane, offers a context for the phenomenon of en masse astral rape that is being experienced as humankind goes through the process of Awakening …

Citation: “The Astral Body and Other Astral Phenomena,” compiled by Arthur E. Powell, Theosophical Publishing House, Wheaton, IL. Copyright The Theosophical Publishing House, London, Ltd. 1965 … “Chapter IX: Sleep Life,” pp 86-87, starting with the last paragraph on page 86 (the paragraph beginning “The astral world …”), which continues onto page 87.

When awareness of the astral plane first begins to dawn on the Awakening human, then a grueling task is set before him or her, by the very force of this awareness:

  • He must learn to tame his ‘desire elemental’.
  • He must begin, step by step, to master the first three, tribal chakras (what is called, in yoga, the ‘lower triangle’).

LInk: “Elemental Bonds: Desire,” in Wowpedia .. https://wow.gamepedia.com/Elemental_Bonds:_Desire ..

As Powell says, this is quite do-able. Only, we must understand that it is possible to tame the Desire World. As he describes in the below passage, suffering (such as the painful emotions around the sensation of astral rape) can, through exertion of will power on the astral plane, be made to disappear immediately:

Citation: “The Astral Body and Other Astral Phenomena,” compiled by Arthur E. Powell, Theosophical Publishing House, Wheaton, IL. Copyright The Theosophical Publishing House, London, Ltd. 1965 … “Chapter IX: Sleep Life,” p 87, the second paragraph on page 87 (beginning “An advantage of …”).

On the astral plane, suffering in the hellworlds is far more starkly insufferable than is suffering while one is in physical form. But precisely because of the bitterness of this suffering, lessons regarding Soul ignorance can be learned more quickly.

  • And so, in the furor of the (second chakra) astral rape scene we fall into, we learn to discipline and perfect our procreative urge.
  • In the same way, in the fury of the (first chakra) Predator – Prey astral scene, we learn to live and let live.
  • And in the (third chakra) ‘I will mind-control the world’ astral dreamland, we learn to offer our magnificent individualized contribution to the All.

The Elohim, who design our experiences of Soul learning, and who have our own highest ends in their great hearts, no doubt consider the intensity of the hellworld learning experience useful to the evolving Soul, as expediency is always, from their perspective, a worthy consideration. Likewise, to the evolving Soul itself, prior to incarnation, and unfettered by physical or astral form, the importance of expediting Soul evolution through suffering the consequences of poor free-will decisions would be crystal clear.

In my own understanding of the astral realm, moving from the hellworlds to the heavenworlds is more explicitly a question of exerting the will power to change one’s emotions from the darkling emotions to the sparkling emotions:

  • from anger, hatred, despair, pain and suffering, fear, annoyance, envy, greed, and pride
  • to love and joy, gratitude and appreciation, and a feeling of perfect well-being

In that way, all in an instant, our astral scenery changes …

  • Where there were Demons and Devils and such,
  • now there are Angelic forms, men in raiment of Light, great scholars, great scientists, and the great mystics of yore.

How to Help the Dead to Escape Kamaloka . by the Theosophists . referral by Alice B. Clagett

Published on 11 July 2015

Dear Ones,

In the School of Theosophy book “The Astral Body and Other Astral Phenomena,” compiled by Arthur E. Powell, there are some good passages about how to help the dead to escape kamaloka, the Desire World, also known as the ‘purgatory’ aspect of the astral realm. In this way they can move on to the next higher plane of being, the devachan or ‘heaven worlds’.

Dear Ones,

Here are a video and an edited Summary of the video describing a tantric meditation through which a couple can role-play demonry, and then unite their apanic and pranic energies in the heart chakra. The purpose of the meditation is to clear the Lilith mental filter from the man, and from the woman, the notion that the man is a ‘devil’.

After the video is an edited Summary, along with Chant soundtracks. After that, and not in the video, is a Brief Outline of the Tantric Meditation, that might be handy for daily practice.

Please excuse the unusual ways of describing apanic and pranic energies … It was the closes I could get to explaining how to do the meditation.

SUMMARY OF THE VIDEO

Hello, Dear Ones, It’s Alice.

Role-Playing Demonry: A Tantric Meditation

Last night, when I was meditating, I was gifted with a tantric exercise that, to me, is very humorous. It is for men and women who are meditating together. There is no physical position to it. and the intention is to heal the rift between men and women today.

It has come to my attention, through comments from people lately, that there is a deep, subconscious level … I would say sixth through seventh level of Hell, in the astral world … a dimension where our Souls dwell … that is different from the Heavenworlds we inhabit, and also different from the physical world.

And this world is so distorted in energy and LIght, that the belief there … which touches all of us, as an archetypal theme for the world today … the belief of men is that women, in some way, are demons, or members of the demon world; and, interestingly enough, women feel that men are that way.

So for women in whom this archetypal theme is active, 50 percent of the world today (i.e., all the men), to them seems demonic (on that level; just on that level … the sixth through seventh level of the Hellworlds). And for men, it is the same thing: 50 percent of the world (all the women) seem to be somehow touched by the demon world.

So this is a sort of a tantric exercise to do while meditating. If you are clairaudient, you can just do it clairaudiently together. But if not, you could do it by chanting out loud together … say, with your spouse … and get closer, in the spiritual realm, with your spouse, by clearing all that out.

Here it is. It was really one of the funniest tantric exercises; but a very light-hearted way to deal with this problem, and clear this plane, this dimension.

Couples or Groups of Couples. This meditation may be done by just one couple, or by several couples sitting in a line, with the men on one side, and the women on the other side. If several couples are doing the meditation, then there should be a well-experienced meditation facilitator to guide the group.

The Chant: The chant is Gody God God God God. [I give it to God!] The tone of the chant varies, depending on whether you are the male or female partner in this tantric exercises, and depending on whether you are doing the first or the second part of the meditation. See the accompanying soundtracks.

Duration: 3 minutes per exercise. So for Part 1, it would be 3 minutes, then another 3 minutes for the role reversal. Similarly for Part 2, it would be 3 minutes, then another 3 minutes for the role reversal.

Manner of Chanting. I suggest that, for both Parts of the Meditation, the couple chant antiphonally (separately), first the one person, and then the other. If you prefer, both persons in the couple can chant their own part at the same time; but you it is possible you may find this simultaneous chanting to be cacaphonous, and that is difficult for each person to perfectly chant their own melodic part.

Part 1: Tantric Couple Role-Modeling Demonry

Person 1. One side … the male side or the female side … has to decide that they want to be the demon world. Now the demon world exists in the lower quadrant of the Body of Light. It has to do with the lower three chakras, old style; the first three, the chakras below the heart.

So, somebody has to take over that energy … that red, apanic energy; somebody has to own the demon world. The demon world exists there; but when those chakras are clear, there are no demons there, ok? So we are just pretending, right now, that that is the demon world.

So the person who does this CHANT 1 visualizes and places awareness on their lower quadrant while intoning, in a voice as guttural and low as they can manage, CHANT 1, like this …

God-y God God God God  (x3 – male voice)

. . . . .

The low, guttural manner of intoning CHANT 1 has to do with the tone and resonance of the lower quadrant as it heals; in this Part 1, you are role-modeling the negatively aspected energies that will be transformed in Part 2.

Person 2. So then, there is another side that is Incoming Light … the beautiful, gold and white Incoming Light. And that side is role-played by the other person in the couple, the other sex. That other person’s does CHANT 2, visualizing it striking first the heart chakra, and then the third-eye point. CHANT 2 goes like this …

The two partners repeat this chant, either alternately or simultaneously, for 3 minutes.

Role Reversal. And then eventually you have to switch sides, so that the other sex pretends to be the demon world, the lower chakras, the first through third chakras, the red, apanic energy, right? Duration of the role reversal chanting is 3 minutes.

Explanation: Lack of Heart Awareness in the World Today. You will notice how the two sounds run away from each other. It is like the apanic sound sends and courses the energy down, away from the heart, and channels it into Earth. This downward motion of the apanic energy corresponds, in psychological terms, to societal repression of our basic instincts. This is because of the way that the sound goes, you see?

And the pranic energy, because it strikes, first, the heart, and then the third-eye point, sends the energy up from the heart, towards the sky.

Now, what is happening there is: It is kind of a template for humankind right now, that is preventing us from feeling our hearts. Frequently what you find is, a very strong third-eye point energy, and then, a problem with controlling the energy of the sexual organs … especially, for spiritually developed men and women. For others, the template still exists, but with less energetic intensity.

And the reason for that is, that the heart … the human heart … is the regulator of the energies of the other chakras. When that regulator is not in effect, it becomes extremely difficult to balance the energies of the chakras below the heart.

So what you are recreating with this demonic scenario is, on one level, the state of the world today; the energetic state of humankind today:

  • As one side (the ‘demonic’ side) chants, that brings the energy from the heart, down into the ground.
  • And as the other side (the ‘Incoming Light’ side) chants, the energy comes up from the heart towards the sky.

And so, what you will probably find, if you are role-modeling the demonic side, is that awareness of the heart is just not there. Can you feel that harsh resonance or vibration that is going through? And that the connection, the loving feeling, between you and your tantric partner, is missing.

The switching about of the roles, the role reversal, helps to take the seriousness away from the notion … the pain and suffering, and the social stigma away from the notion that the lower chakras have some demonic energy in them, which, in fact they do not have, you know? It is just a mental filter.

Part 2: Tantric Couple Uniting Apana and Prana in the Heart

So now, to get back to the meditation: Each sex has had a chance to pretend to be the demon world, right? And now there is another visualization.

The words of the chants are the same, but the melodies are different.

Person 1. One person decides to visualize the energy coming up from Earth, this time … not demon world energy, but the red energy … just concentrating on that color Red coming up from Earth, and into their hearts. As they visualize the energy coming up, they intone, in a low but not so guttural voice, CHANT 3, like this …

Person 2. And the other person visualizes the Great White Light … the Incoming Light from the Galaxies, from the Cosmos … coming down from the sky, and into their heart. And they intone CHANT 4, like this …

As you can hear, in CHANT 3, the apanic energy is very low, but rising. And the pranic energy is very high, but descending. Each of these two chants rests in the heart as it ends.

The two partners repeat this chant, either alternately or simultaneously, for 3 minutes.

Role Reversal. Then the two sides get a chance to switch it up, again, and the other person … the person that role-modeled ascending apana, begins to role-model descending prana. And the side that was pranic, tries apanic. Duration of the role reversal chanting is 3 minutes.

Explanation: Uniting Apana and Prana in the Heart, and Raising the Kundalini. So Chants 3 and 4 kind of join together in a symphony; and as they do that, what happens is, the apanic energies … the red, upcoming energies from Earth … begin to rise, as kundalini, upward in the spine.

And the white and gold, descending energy … the pranic energy … starts coming down, from above the head, towards the heart.

Both meet together, in the heart. And in that way, we lighten up on the notion that the other sex might be from Mars, or the other sex might be from Venus … or that men might be very bad people who think only about sexuality … or that women might be sultry sexpots that are trying to seduce men into not being spiritual.

All these stereotypical notions that we have, become more like child’s play, and a chance to become less rigid in our thinking about what is so. So we can take on the opinion of the opposite sex, and we can take on our own opinion. And we can role-play it, and we can just get through it.

BRIEF OUTLINE: ROLE-PLAYING DEMONRY: A TANTRIC MEDITATION

This is a two-part tantric meditation to heal the rift between the sexes, and to restore the circulation of apana-prana so that the heart may regulate and balance the energy of the lower chakras.

Couples or Groups of Couples. This meditation may be done by just one couple, or by several couples sitting in a line, with the men on one side, and the women on the other side. If several couples are doing the meditation, then there should be a well-experienced meditation facilitator to guide the group.

The Chant: The chant is God-y God God God God
The tone of the chant varies, depending on whether you are the male or female partner in this tantric exercises, and depending on whether you are doing the first or the second part of the meditation. See the accompanying soundtracks.

Duration: 3 minutes per exercise. So for Part 1, it would be 3 minutes, then another 3 minutes for the role reversal. Similarly for Part 2, it would be 3 minutes, then another 3 minutes for the role reversal.

Manner of Chanting: I suggest that, for both Parts of the Meditation, the couple chant antiphonally (separately), first the one person, and then the other. If you prefer, both persons in the couple can chant their own part at the same time; but you it is possible you may find this simultaneous chanting to be cacaphonous, and that is difficult for each person to perfectly chant their own melodic part.

Part 1: Tantric Couple Role-Modeling Demonry

The intention of Part 1 is to role model the notion that one or the other partner represents demonry.

The visualization for one tantric partner is of the energies of the first through the third chakra (and especially of the second chakra) descending. This person intones, in a voice as guttural and low as they can manage, CHANT 1 ..

Part 2: Tantric Couple Uniting Apana and Prana in the Heart

The intention of Part 2 is to unite our apanic and pranic energies, and our lower and higher chakras, in the heart chakra.

The visualization for the first person in the couple is of the color red rising. This person intones, in a low but not so guttural voice, CHANT 3
