Dear Ones,

I was in church yesterday. It was great! The first reading was Job 7:1-4 and 6-7. It sounded a lot like me having a hard time with Ascension symptoms … especially the part about his days being swifter than a weaver’s shuttle…

But there it was, Job. Old Testament …

Job 7:1-4 and 6-7 (KJV, public domain)

1 “Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?

2 “As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:

3 “So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.

4 “When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day …

6 “My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and are spent without hope.

7 “O remember that my life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good.”

………

Well so, I thought: This is far from a message of good cheer! And then they sang this song, what they call a Responsorial Psalm. Which is to say, the knitting up of care and woe through Faith …

Video: “Praise the Lord, Who Heals the Brokenhearted. Psalm 147 (B064),” William Ferris – Topic, 20 July 2014 … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9r1u6z1NxAc ..

Psalm 147: 1-6 (KJV, public domain)

1 “Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.

2 “The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.

3 “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

4 “He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

5 “Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

6 “The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.”

Mainly what I liked about the Response, “Praise the Lord, Who Heals the Brokenhearted,” was how the whole congregation joined in on the chorus. Pretty cool!

In love, light and joy,
I Am of the Stars
