Dear Ones,
I was surprised and heartened today to find Los Angeles once more in the forefront of prisoners’ rights nationwide. Here is the article I saw on the newsstand …
Link: “LA deputy suspected of raping female jail inmates,” by Wes Woods II, in Los Angeles Daily News, 14 September 2017 … http://www.dailynews.com/2017/09/14/la-deputy-arrested-for-criminal-misconduct-while-on-duty/ ..
The article cites a Los Angeles deputy is suspected of raping inmates, and terms the criminal nature of such an act ‘horrific’.
This follows a few months after well known ex-Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca received a 3-year jail term for obstructing an FBI investigation into abuses in county jails …
Link: “Ex-L.A. County Sheriff Lee Baca sentenced to three years in prison in jail corruption scandal,” by Joel Rubin, 12 May 2017 … http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-baca-sentenced-jail-sheriff-corruption-20170512-story.html ..
In terms of prisoners’ rights, and also in many other ways, Los Angeles stands out as a national leader. I am very proud to call the City of the Angels my home.
In love, light and joy,
I Am of the Stars
