REIKI HEALING SYMBOLS OF USUI

A while ago I studied Reiki Level 1 with the gifted teachers David Castle and Rev. Ann K. Alcock of the Celestial Healing Center (3).  There I learned about the Reiki Healing Symbols of Usui, which as you may know, are inscribed in a certain way, and with a certain feeling, in the air. These symbols remind me of both Sandra Walter’s crystal codes and Joska Soos’s beings of light and sound. Here are some of the Reiki Healing Symbols (4) …

JAPANESE KANJI, AN ALPHABET ORIGINATING FROM PICTOGRAPHS

Years ago I studied Japanese, which has three systems of writing characters. Kana are symbols used to reproduce syllabic sounds; these are of two varieties … hiragana, used for Japanese or naturalized words, and katakana, used for foreign words.

Then there are kanji, symbols which represent entire words. These are adapted from Chinese characters, a few of which are shown below …

My teacher said that he thought that, in some instances, kanji are pictographs …. pictures of words … that were changed over the years so that they sometimes no longer resemble what they represent.

It seems to me, though, that these kanji carry a deeper significance. When writing these symbols, one must follow a certain order of strokes; as well, each stroke must begin in a certain place and end in a certain place (never in reverse order). The result, visually, is entrancing.

Here is how the word kokoro, meaning ‘heart’ or ‘mind’ is written in Japanese kanji …

In Japan, the mind is felt to be in the heart, not in the head. Divergent as this notion is from Western tradition, it is a notion with which I completely agree.

The mind is located in the heart. In the head is located Trouble with a capital ‘T’.

Be that as it may, note how, in the video, a sound is played that causes a deep vibration in the physical heart. Note the order of the strokes, and the feeling with which they are drawn. Note also how the kanji looks like the heart, with its valves …

As with the Reiki Symbols, I’m reminded of Joska Soos’s paintings of beings of Light and love. Perhaps a summoning of these beings?

In the accompanying blog, Lisa Gawlis putting the two crystals on a tree stump. Then she saw the guardians inscribe things in the crystals. Then later, she saw a bubble of Light around the tree stump, and tiny beings of Light working inside the crystals. (5)
