DISTANCE
A Poem by Alice B. Clagett
August 2016

On Friday night
across the street
4 teens had a party
in their car

Wild noises
wilder thoughts
and then
a wild thought train
appeared

We will rob your
house
we will rob
your house
we will
rob your house

And so it went
chugging along
through the sludge
of my dreams

I was scared

I thought
shall I cower here?

I opened the door

And there they were,
only a little way away

only 5 decades
away from me

I stepped out

stopped

watched for a while

walked out to the street
and spoke with them.

. . . . .

In love, light and joy,
I Am of the Stars
