Here is the lizard man drawing I made as a free sketch from a sculpture I saw imaged online. The sculpture was much better, but the sketch can be published on my website. Here it is …

This image I placed with a poem I wrote some years ago …

That poem had to do with a ‘lizard man’ I met in Durango, Colorado … a man perhaps overshadowed by an Reptilian Star Being of the lizard clan. As well, the term ‘lizard man’ it applies to a certain type of human being, perhaps recently separated out from the Group Soul of the Reptile Kingdom. Thus the drawing reminds me of a man I met in Los Angeles, California, as well, and of other men I have seen on the physical plane or psychic plane over the years.

By way of note, I see that the Reptile Kingdom includes turtles, lizards, snakes, crocodilians, and maybe the extinct dinosaurs. I feel the above drawing applies best to lizards, crocodilians, and snakes; also to dinosaurs that were of predatory nature. Turtles are reptiles, and some people class amphibians with reptiles, but I feel the above drawing does not apply to them.

Dear Ones,

Here is a short film of a red-eared slider (Trachemys scripta elegans). It was the only turtle I have ever seen on my Southern California rambles in the woods, and it was startlingly large: about 8 inches across by about 11 inches long.

It was right stand-offish, and most likely ancient and wise, I feel. If you run across it on your walks in the woods, please treat it nicely, as life in the wild, while granting wisdom, takes its toll on the slow-moving philosopher.

As there are no words, there is no Summary …

Hello, Dear Ones.

Today I am over at the UCLA Botanical Gardens, and I’m looking at a little man-made stream here, with a lot of turtles in it. And I noticed, about the stream, first, the water’s pretty muddy. And then, these turtles are popping up into the Light, and sticking their noses out of the water. And then they just go on back under the water … they dive back down again. And you can’t see them very well if they do that.

And it reminded me of my subconscious thoughts … my ‘samskaras’, as they call them. in the “Aphorisms of Patanjali” …

… that just pop right out … right out of my mind, sort of like the turtles in the stream … or popcorn. And sometimes they pop up so strongly that I act on them … and sometimes with very unfortunate consequences.

And then, without my even knowing why, they just sort of disappear back down into the turgid waters of my heart … [laughs, as two turtles sink down into the water] … very obligingly, in this case.

So I had a thought about that. I noticed I have two tendencies, when these thoughts come up ,,,

  • One is to shove them back down into the water … and make them angry, and hungry.
  • And the other thought is: To say that they’re somebody else’s turtle; not mine; to disown them.

So just now, when I was walking, I was thinking:  Maybe if I just make friends with them … notice them … this muddy water in my heart will eventually clear up, and become more like a pure mountain stream. That’s what I was thinking about the turtles.
