I see a somewhat sinister face and figure to the right of Lazarus, whose ear, nose and hand can be seen at the crevice between the crypt stone and the crypt. I see a distorted face and hand at the cross-timbers of the cross, as if Christ himself were transformed to the higher realms while bringing Lazarus back to life. I see another, human face beneath the transfixed face that I presumed to be Christ, as if that were the human known as Jesus, watching the miracle take place. There are other mysterious faces in the painting as well.
